If the book of Enoch was not important then why did Jude quote from it? These books were relevant and read in the first century.

Hey Nathan. I have come to appreciate the LXX / Septuagint as the most accurate overall translation we now have (certainly of OT). I didn't realize the so-called apocryphal books were part of the LXX. The early church clearly accepted the lxx as the holy scriptures (reading ante-nicean fathers), so why shouldn't we? I've had to get off my high horse / churchianity and do some digging with the help of the comforter/spirit of Christ. Thanks for sharing this Nathan! We need to stop listening to seminaries and teachers go to the most reliable source, the teacher Jesus left us with!

I accept the Ethiopian Orthodox Church canon of Scripture, which includes the LXX and Enoch. The Greek NT quotes the Greek OT. The Masoretic Text was created after the New Testament was written. The Masoretes changed dates and reduced the number of book in their canon because of "the new faith" (i.e. Christianity - Jewish Encyclopedia, Bible Translations, Aquila) that used the LXX to show Jesus is the Messiah. "This distrust [of the LXX] was accentuated by the fact that it had been adopted as Sacred Scripture by the new faith [Christianity]. A revision in the sense of the canonical Jewish text was necessary." Today, Freemasons and Mormons use the corrupted Masoretic chronology. The LXX did not change the Hebrew. The Masoretic Text changed the Hebrew that the LXX was translated from. Ethiopian Jews (Beta Israel) use the LXX. Fascinatingly, the first KJV printed with only 66 books was printed in 1666. I also accept the Ethiopian calendar. The Gregorian calendar is 7 years ahead of the Ethiopian Calendar. September 11, 2001 was Ethiopian New Years Day 1994. Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed by the Twin Towers on 9-11-2001. Born in 1964, I was raised KJV-only but converted to the Eastern Orthodox Church after 9-11-2001 via a vision of Archangel Michael.

I'm happy to have the Deuterocanonical as scripture in my Bible.

I'm glad to see that, even among those who don't believe the Apocrypha consist of the Inspired Word of God, there are some who believe that it is valuable and worthwhile rather than a heretical book for burning.

Michael Brown has proven beyond doubt time and again that he has zero dicernment. He might be right about a lot of things, but he is so obviously wrong about certain things that i would not listen to a word he says or ever tarnish my point by using him as a source.

do you have a link to the book of Solomon? I read a wild book of Solomon and I am not sure if it's the real deal. It was like SOlomon was writing it at the end of his life, defeated, remorseful for having worshipped other gods and he told his tale of his use of magic and how he even employed the departed spirits of giants to help him build the temple. God didn't just give him wisdom, God gave Solomon power to command spirits, all spirits including demons and the spirits of giants who also appeared as demons because they ate humans while alive.
But then I read that there was another book of SOlomon of his normal activities while alive. SO I think there are two books out there.

The Apocrypha were in the King James Bible ..grab a 1611 kjv and they are in there. What is the Word of God has been edited by man multiple times..why should we not read Holy Scripture that was taught for thousands of years and removed by man?

You’ve made your point long ago for me. I have a question for you. Do you believe all books in the Bible have the same value? For example, the five books of the law compared to the prophets. All the same…or is there a hierarchy?

You bet the apocrypha are interesting. I just read an article about the probable realization of Zechariah 14 in the story of Maccabees. So... if you don't have it, you end up pushing it inevitably in the future.

Whatever that was included in the original Catholic Cannon is scripture. Protestants removed 7 books from the old testament and wanted to remove 3 from the new . Those were James, Hebrews and Revelation. How do you reconcile that ?

I don’t mind having this endorsement from Mr. Luther:

"It is easier to live as a Protestant, but better to die as a CATHOLIC"
— Martin Luther
