WHAT!? I saved the original 1972 link from JMac's full sermon. I saved it to my favorites! I really loved it. Went to refer to it again today and it's no longer there! They took the sermon down!!! :( So sad.

I am surprised that the Grace to You app still has sermons like this available. I just found it listed under Hebrews 3. If his theology changed you might think they would remove it. Glad they haven't.

Wow this is the most severe blow that Leighton has given the Calvivists just play a young Macarthur. Wow I can't believe Macarthur used to preach like that, what happened to him!!!??? There was a turn and full conversion to Calvinism. What a great preacher!

Dr Flowers, Do you have any good resources I can review related to if I change churches because of calvinist thinking? I'm not there but I believe I have fully come out of reformed thinking.

I like John MacArthur! I don’t agree with him on Calvinism but I’ve learned so much from him! He’s an very good teacher!

I grew up listening to big Mac as well, never being a Calvinist myself though. He is a great orator and that's not a good thing at all since his doctrine is so far off. I think God graciously protected me from adhering to Calvinism since many teachers I listened to were Calvinists.

I understand why you did not go thru the entire sermon, but I would love to hear the whole thing. McArthur sounds, in 1972, like someone he would call an Arminian today! I agree that this is a great & powerful message.

In Pharaoh’s account, the Hebrew uses one word when Pharaoh hardens his heart and another word when God hardens (confirm) Pharaoh’s heart.

The fact that Mac said respond is proof positive that human choice is involved in salvation with the call of the Holy Spirit to "respond"....

Yes, macarthur is indeed a masterful teacher of a false gospel . So what ? He's so wonderful at telling the congregation that CHRIST didn't live, die and resurrect for all of them, which is a false gospel by definition and diminishes what CHRIST has done for us .

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I imagine this might be a place where the "two wills of God" card might be used. God can say He desires all to be saved, but He has a "secret will" that is more in line with Calvinist dogma.
