Most gamers if not all don’t give a shit about color accuracy or battery life. They only care about the performance and thermals. That’s it.

Acer made good decisions to keep the cost down and still have beefy internals. I agree, most gamers don’t care about colour accuracy and battery life; even if you travel with it you’re probably going to be playing near an outlet anyways. Also who doesn’t play without headphones? I just never liked the feel of the plastic chassis but I appreciate that it brought the cost down significantly from what it would be if it was metal. They also cheaped out a bit with the cooling system but I’ve never had an overheating problem even when I was on RDR2 for 6+ hours

You can somewhat fix the colors by doing the following.
Go in to the Intel control management settings and locate the display settings. Change the saturation value to 61.
Next install the program Flux and adjust the display temperature to either 4900k or 5000k.
For me it made the display more vibrant and fine for me.

Acer made the right tradeoffs. Most gamers will be sitting in their room and plugged in while gaming. Second, most gamers don't care very much about color accuracy as long as the screen isn't utter trash. Third, I don't know about the speakers because I haven't actually listened to them in person but most laptops in the midrange segment would sound exactly as you'd expect: midrange. You're not gonna find Bose speakers in there, that's for sure.

I have a 2019 Acer Nitro 5 with a Ryzen 2500U and Radeon 560X. It's a pretty good laptop.

It actually is a decent tradeoff for what you get overall. Display is absolutely fine for gaming, you won't be playing without the charger plugged in and no laptop delivers a great sound experience. You get the most important things- a good gpu, fast processor, basically as much as you ram and all this for a decent price /at least compared to the competiton/.

i think They are not problems for Gaming Entry Laptop, They are just problem for Designer's Laptop. You cant complain the because it's Cheapest. and i love how it is Upgradeable

I see alot of people talking about how bad the sound quality is on the nitro 5, I thought it was bad also until I was going through all the programs in the start menu and found one called DTSX Ultra. After turning this feature on, it now has some of the best sound quality I have ever heard. It's a massive difference, night and day.

1:04 pretty sure that's not how 60 fps is like

Just bought a nitro 5 17.3in with the i5 and 1650ti. For the money, it's absolutely great so far. I dont game that intensively, not super interested in running everything at 160fps. For me, they made all the right trade offs, it's powerful enough, quiet, looks pretty good, keyboard feels nice to use and the display is solid. For a $1000 (CAD) gaming laptop, I'd say it absolutely over delivers. Runs all the games I like at high or ultra with frame rates between 60 and 100fps.

Don't care about speakers because I use headset, don't care about battery because ma laptop is always plugged in and don't care that much about display because you can use external quality monitor.

I have the Nitro 5 right now. Its about 2 month old now.

Out of the box its the rtx 3060, r9 5800h and 16GB of ram and a 500GB ssd i just never checked if it was gen 3 or gen 4 but the laptop boots faster than my desktop which has a gen 3 crucial p5 ssd which is blazing fast in its own regard. Ran smooth as hell for the first month.

As a video editor and photographer.... color accuracy and battery life what I wanted and this laptop quickly disappointed in that regard. I wanted to return it but I stuck with it, So I decided it would be my gaming laptop instead as I already have a 64GB, R9 3900X and 3060ti desktop waiting to be abused.

As an enthusiast, 16GB of ram was a turn off for me.... I recently found out that this laptop supported up to 64GB of ram.... but I could never do anything to to max that out. So I upgraded to 32GB ram, slotted in a 1TB HDD for long term storage and threw in a Samsung 980 pro as secondary storage.

Safe to say it's definitely decked out now.

The performance is OK, just raise the laptop on a stand to give it more air to suck in and you're ok. I limited the max processor power to 99% instead the default 100% and it usually stays in the low 70's most of the time compared to the mid 80's it would find itself in out of the box.

As a gaming laptop, it more than delivers at 1080p and I will get 100fps mixed settings. I play Apex Legends more tgan anything and it still looks gorgeous either on ultra or low settings dont knkw why that is.

Anyways for gaming and watching movies on, the flattish color that annoyed me at first stops mattery very quickly.

My one gripe with the laptop is that it feel like a VA panel becuase of the ghosting when playong fast paced games for an ips display overall its not that bad once you get past its flaws. In fact, you come to appearciate the beast it is. It gives up all the fancy stuff and just gives you raw performance.

I don't really see all the "problems" here as something that significant. My only gripe would be with the design, it's outdated. It's something that a kid would think looks "cool". But then again, I don't really intend to take it everywhere I go so it's all good.

After about a year of using my laptop, my computer randomly just shut down. After booting it back up every game that I play had massive FPS drops in it and rendered all of them unplayable. Whilst putting stress on my GPU, every game I run has both the dedicated GPU and Primary GPU making a whirring noise, and when it slows down it makes my entire PC lag. You can get a laptop, but just know these rare glitches can happen and can waste your money in the long run.

To be honest, a lot of Acer's gaming laptops have bad speakers. I got an Acer Predator a few years back and the speakers were really bad. Like, they weren't really audible, even at max volume. I had to install external drivers to fix the problem. Some updates install the old drivers again and I have to keep rolling back to the previous version of the driver.

i mean just get a good external monitor and a sound system/headset and you're good to go.... aren't mostly people who game on their laptop are just playing in their room?

I bought this laptop a few days ago. I can safely say its the best laptop at its price range. I played most games at high and ultra high graphics with 8gb ram and they ran smoothly like butter. Though I just upgraded to 16gb ram. I really recommend this laptop.

Just bought this laptop. While I have no issues with the screen, the speakers are a bit weak and even on full volume can sound quite on some but not all applications. Otherwise it’s a great laptop for gaming on a budget.

The screen problem is fixed in the ryzen 7 version of nitro 5. Which has 165hz 2k HD display WITH A 100%SRGB. It is slightly costlier.

im using acer nitro 5, just the difference is i have gtx 1650, and i had also purchased acer nitro 5 i5 10th gen version, if i would compare both of them i think the i5 10th gen's display quality was much better than the ryzrn one, but performance wise ryzen one is the best, it doesn't get overheated, i'm using it from over 1 month now!
