Fun fact, that was a level 40 attack, which makes it insanely impressive because Brain is only about level 30. Meaning he overcame a 10 level difference. Too bad he needed to overcome a 70 level difference but still.

Mad respect to Brain. There was an absolute 0% chance he won this fight, but he grit his teeth and tried anyway. He died a hero's death, and did so with a smile on his face. Lucky for him, Cocytus is the most honorable fighter among the Floor Guardians, anyone else might have mocked Brain for his choice.

The amount of respect cocytus shown to Brian completely melted me.
I have found him jumping way higher in my character rating... What an absolute king.

For a moment, he truly reached that untouchable peak he thought impossible. He surpassed Gazef and was a true hero for that briefest of moments. Unlike so many others in this world, he saw the terrors these people brought, and he welcomed it. He knew he'd never win, but he fought. That is what courage is.

Cocytus certainly seems like an honorable warrior. I'm guessing his creator was a big samurai fan. You can see that during the Lizardman arc in Season 2 as well.

The one thing I can't stop thinking about with this scene is that this is actually a mercy killing.
Brain doped himself with all kinds of potions and then used Martial Arts to push his body far beyond what it was capable of.
If coccytus decided to do nothing after blocking the attack, brain would've been in utter agony as his muscles ripped themselves apart until he finally died from the shock.

I love how meditative Cocytus is about the whole thing. Hes at once impressed that Brain is standing up to him and dying with honor but such is the nature of war that however much he admires the man, however admirable an ally he wouldve made, he has to strike him down anyway. I also love that Cocytus has this whole character arc of going from loyal soldier to loyal warrior scholar. Ainz may be ruthless to his enemies but he really is the best bone daddy to his npc subjects.

Out of all the Floor Guardians in Nazarick, the one who was most likely to lose at all was Cocytus. _Think about that._ Look at what he did and think about that.

It's heartbreaking seeing Brain go after following his journey from season 1. Which was 7 years ago, by the way.

There will always be something vastly poetic about Brain naming his greatest move--the move that would propel him into Hero status for just a moment--what Shalltear mocked him as.

I already know that Cocytus is going to be Victorious and Triumphant Against Brain in this episode of Overlord IV. Brain never stood a Chance to Cocytus.
