If the decryption doesn't happen on-the-fly, then everything is always decrypted as long as you're not logged out. With a USB key injection attack, few seconds of physical access to an unlocked computer is all you need to know everything that has been done on that computer in detail.

my gut twists at the thought of inevitably being forced to upgrade to 11. we were all mad at the existence of 8, and to a degree 10--but I think we took those systems for granted, because look where we are now!!!

Anyone that has literally any experience with how flimsey it is to tell AI "pretend you don't know this" knows this is an awful idea. I gave feedback on it and called it the biggest Linux promotion directly through Windows systems so I'm so glad it's only opt-in now
