Thanks for remembering the Trabuco Treasure: that was one of my favorite stories from "Unsolved Mysteries, " when they covered the story back in the 90s. (I note that you've used several stills from the show.) It's still considered one of the most plausible and well-documented tales of lost treasure on record, especially in the American West.

The Lost Dutchman mine, however, is a far more complicated story, with twists and turns not mentioned here. First, there is the fact that (as Buzzfeed Unsolved uncovered) Jacob Palz was a mine supervisor at the Vulture Mine in Arizona, where he was notorious as a thief: some have alleged that his tale of a lost mine was simply a cover story for gold that he stole. Second is that fact that the legend wasn't connected to the Superstition Mounatins until the coming of Adolph Ruth, whose map allegedly led there: this was controversial because the Superstitions are the wrong kind of mountains to hide naturally-occurring gold. Third, this last contradiction was how and why some treasure hunters conflated that legend with that of the Peralta Cache, later on.

I used to look for old Gold Mines when I lived near Los Angeles. I would look at maps and websites and ride my ATV in the mountains where they were. I found some incredible mines, some old tools, but no gold. The best mine I was able to get to was one that was thought to be The Los Padre Goldmine. Took me a long time to locate and many attempts to reach it. Still no gold!

Upload the ciphers, set the book code parameters, and tell it to “compare against all known editions of books & government documents that existed in the United States before December, 1819.”

If the Declaration of Independence was one source, I feel like the second & third would be equally well known. I feel like they would have tried the Constitution & Bill of Rights, so maybe a specific edition of The Bible or a famous novel like Pride & Prejudice
