I would to say that, in long hours usage, the 16gb model would be the recommend to programming studies. But not everyone is able to buy it. In my case, for example, I took the 8gb MB Pro model and I used it about 10 - 12 hours per day. What really consumes memory are the simulators and Android emulators used in my mobile work. If you have condition to take the 16gb model, take it! But, if you don't, don't feel bad! Both are good machines and in few years you will plan to buy another updated model.

I bought a M1 Mini with 1TB/16GB. It has proven to be a solid machine. Worth noting, I get all my Mac stuff refurbished through Apple on-line. Same warranty. The stuff is like new. I saved $300 on the Mini, so it was like a RAM upgrade for free.

Do you think a macbook air m1 8gb/256gb is enough to work as a Front-end React developer? Thanks!

3:05 Hi, but more swapping equates to more SSD writes and hence degrade it faster? This is the only thing that I'm worried about. Leaning towards the 24gb (always hitting 14gb with current 13" MacBook Pro setup) but not sure if I should get that. Not familiar with ARM architecture but RAM sizes has always been 2 to the power of n, right?

Bro i really need help I'm planning to start coding and i need a macbook. I'm really confused between M1 mba and M2 mba. I'm planning to use the laptop for next 2 - 3 max as the work load increase i would like to switch to macbook pro. Will the base model be enough and should i buy mba M2 base or mba M1 model with 16 gb ram. As my budget now could only be enough for the 16 gb mba m1 or base m2. Will the m1 have great resale value after 2-3 years or should i buy m2 mba considering the resale value. Will the 8gb ram on the base model be enough for someone who is starting coding or should i really consider 16 gb m1 ? Please answer I'm really confused.

Here's my opninion, if you have the budget to buy the 16gb model don't hesitate and buy it ASA (for future proof), and if you don't then get the base model and you will be happy.
I currently have the base model and it's great :)

Hey guys,
Just need a suggestion im planning to buy m1 air 8gb variant as 16gb one is unavailable. My usage includes runnning these simultaneously -> Docker, simulators, xcode, vscode, chrome tabs around 8-10, postman, Dbeaver, pgadmin4.
Will it be able to handle these simultaneously?
If anyone has some experience related to this please do share.

Awesome video I just came across it. I am going to school for Web & Mobile Development and my laptop is too old (11 years old ASUS) so I am looking to upgrade but on a budget. Noticed that Walmart & Best Buy offer the M1 Macbook Air 8GB RAM for $699. Do you think this would work fine for what I need to do or will 8GB RAM not be enough? Considering the price difference to get more RAM on another model. Thank you.

For my whole degree I used an XPS 9560 with 16gb of ram. Most of my development though was in a Linux VM that only had 8gb and I was fine the whole way.

I'm on a tight budget and want to learn coding, m1 mba was the best option at the price tag. The RAM upgrade was eating up because I can only go for the base model. Thank you for the affirmation.

Hey devsmak, I'm considering buying the M2 Macbook Air for my first year as a CS Student. I really wanted to upgrade to 16 RAM but it is not available in my country in the first place. Should I consider other options or should I take it. I'm considering keeping it for the next 4-5 years in College. Thank you!

Thank you for the great video. I am just starting to learn iOS app development and don’t want to sink a lot of money in getting the high end model. Just for iOS app development is the base MBA 8gb/256gb sufficient for beginners? Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi devsmak, do you think programs like python would require the 16gb MacBook air model, which do you recommend
