Brief introduction to 'Single rope work positioning'

Single rope work positioning has played a huge part in the evolution of the tree work/climbing industry in recent years.
It has moved things a step further from using single rope techniques purely for access, now the tree climber can work his/her way around the canopy on a single leg of rope. This brings with it lots of advantages over the traditional 'doubled rope' method of which some are highlighted in this introduction to S.R.W.P.

NIce, informative vid :) Is that a pinto pulley? In this application, I'd imagine its better for attaching to the rope wrench than the hitch pulley? As per the thumbnail pic?

A climber climbing off of a prusik alone would not melt a prusik it would just weld. Beginning of the video you say that a rope wrench is needed so that a climber does not melt the process I think that is just a common misconception. Kevin Bingham actually touches base on it and some of his videos

Is it possible to just use a Valdotain tresse and just a good prussic rope. Safety always, but wouldn't that be just about the same? Just wondering....
