Hour of the Wolf by Ingmar Bergman I've heard him mention a few times too.

seen all of them except for It's a gift and Strozek. 8 1/2 is amazing and I can totally see how M. Hulot's Holiday inspiried Lynches style of humor

His picks while really great, but also pretty mainstream hahaha. I was expecting weird underrated films.

Interesting, only one Kubrick film on his list, but it was a good one...

Not surprising he lists a Werner Herzog film as one of his faves...I always felt that Herzog's "Kaspar Hauser" influenced "Elephant Man". The theme of someone living as some animal and outcast being re-integrated into uppity society, the close-up of a mother's face at the beginning etc

Three of these are in my top ten: The Wizard Of Oz #8 (Best children's film ever made) Sunset Blvd. #3 and The Apartment #2. I don't believe it's possible to judge foreign language films unless you are fluent in the language.

Stroszek is an interesting pick. Everything else, just classics....

"Rosaura a las diez" by Mario Soffici could have been in his most certainly Ingmar Bergman's "Persona"

It's a Gift stands out like a sore thumb on this list. Quite surprising.

Mulholland Drive is better than any on his list. But that only makes sense.

Pretty surprised not to see a Kubrick or Polanski film in this list. Or even a Jarmusch. I'd have bet on 'The Tenant', 'Rosemary's Baby', 'Chinatown', 'The Shining', 'Eyes Wide Shut', 'Down By Law', 'Coffee & Cigarettes'...but maybe they're too obvious examples or maybe DL chose films that had very personal associations. Ha ha, it would have been amusing too if he'd cited a couple of his own movies. They definitely deserve to be!

I've always thought "The Apartment" was slop. Also don't like "Stroszek". The others, yes.
