Using Sewage to Develop Green Areas

Athens is where most of the Greek population calls home. With its more than 3 million people and scarce rain, it faces issues with water availability and lack of green space.
Klio Monokrousou researcher from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) presented one of NextGen’s demo cases located in the city. It is a tree nursery where water is drained and treated from the sewer to water the plants and generate compost. It has successfully created a small park that will be expanded in the upcoming years.
