As a plumber I'm 100% all for people unclogging their own toilets. Anything home owners or renters can do to clear a clog that doesn't damage the toilet I definitely approve of

Just use the plunger as they've worked great for decades and they are a lot quicker and gets the job. I'm not going to pretend like I'm making breakfast, cleaning the dishes, and wrapping up the leftovers in an effort to just unclog the toilet.
