Yep, a UI menu would be best. That way you dont need a separate "range" key but can change it in the menu.

(Feature suggestion<s>:) Instead of the Building Gadget logging the last 10 block placements, if you hit a hotkey, say "L", it will show a UI, where it will keep a log list of the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the block placements, the number of blocks placed, a block/structure rendering of each of the block placements and maybe distance from a marked waypoint (like say from JourneyMap or any other map mod compatible) and says: "<X> blocks from <nearest waypoint>", and you can clear the log list by pressing a hotkey, say "R/Shift+R", or an option in the UI to "Clear Log". You can also click one of the logs in the log list to see the individual log. You can also maybe have (customized) titled log sections for specific logs that would indicate the use/activity of such category. I was just full of thoughts about when you said about the gadget logging the last uses/block placements, but then again, these are just suggestions and you don't have to add them into the mod :)

I'd love to see two things: a mode for the exchanger where it doesn't limit a single exchange to the same blocks (so even if some blocks are grass and some are dirt, it could still exchange an actual square) and also a way to combine the two tools, either for just having both functionality in one tool, with the different modes, and/or to make the builder be able to actually overwrite blocks as if they were exchanged.

it seriously surprises me that there isnt a 9x9 option, but heck ya dire's got a mod!

I absolutely love the animations. They have me hoping for a block breaking tool in the future!

Really cool that your using the feedback from the comments.

That silk touch enchant and rf config option were mentioned there in the last video.

It would be cool if you added a 9*9 room option to the builder!

Nice mod Dire. Just up your alley. Won't make you build pretty things though :)

Nice intuitive interface! I couldn't really include it in a modpack until there was some kind of cost to exchanging ores with it though (mining level diamond with the click of a button and the cost of dirt). Energy seems okay, but the cost of exchanging ores would need to be higher than other blocks.

Would it be possible for you to make it so that you can adjust the range using shift + the scroll wheel?

Nice!
A nice addition to the exchanger would be a mode where it doesn't care about the block type you want to exchange and just do all blocks that it can in the range specified. With all the different stone types in minecraft now making a basement have nice walls with an exchanger always requires at least three passes due to the different blocks scattered around 😁

Holy crap. Here I was looking to see if there were any substitutes for a builder's wand in the 1.16 pack I'm currently messing around in, and...well this does a heck of a lot more than any of those. Seriously, great job with this!

How is it in creative mode? do you still need to be holding the block type or will it ignore inventory?

So Dire: What about the torches on the ground? Will they now stay in place or not?

After watching your recent episode of modern skyblock that involved building astral sorcery multiblocks I think a third gadget could be useful, The Structure Gadget. Basically it would look at what mods you have installed and then let you select from each mods multiblock structures. For those that still want to manually build the multiblocks you could press the anchor key so that the tool would work like the immersive engineering projector. Or if you just have to structure made provided you have the materials.
And for structures that require some sort of interaction after being built such as being clicked with the engineers hammer, it could be a nice addition that if you have the hammer in your inventory when you build the structure it automatically applies the click so that the structure gets formed as well.
