IT ENDS WITH US, the first Colleen Hoover novel adapted for the big screen, tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parentsโ€™ relationship. When Lilyโ€™s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.

This movie was really really good. HOWEVER, be prepared to cry, especially more so if youโ€™ve gone through/dealt with certain situations. My friend actually grabbed my hand when I started having a panic attack and didnโ€™t let go. Just be ready for some serious triggers. (If you read the book, you know)

This movie made me tear up. Itโ€™s the best. Lily was so strong through the whole movie when Ryle was abusing her. This is a good movie for moms or even for relationships that are hard rn. Good job

A movie of breaking the cycle. Something that most of us struggle with.

She is so right. It is so hard to leave when you love someone even when they hurt you. It isn't black and white.

I haven't yet seen the movie, but just watching some shorts like this one has opened my eyes so much to what it must be like for those who are in these toxic relationships. I don't know if anyone will read this comment, and I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm going to leave it anyway. My big brother is in an abusive marriage. It's not physical violence as far as I know. However his wife is the closest thing I have ever known to an actual sociopath. She has always been difficult, and they have been together a little over 15 years. They didn't get married for a long time. Before they got married they were constantly breaking up and getting back together and my brother would leave whenever things got really bad. He didn't want to marry her but she wanted to get married so eventually he gave in. When they did finally get married he took his vows very seriously and decided to truly commit to her in a way he had not done before. Now 6 years later, my sweet gentle and easy-going favorite big brother has turned into someone who I don't even recognize. He is angry all the time, and even though we used to be best friends we don't even speak now. His wife has been cheating on him for 2 years. He lost a ton of weight because he was so sick about the situation, he cried himself to sleep every night for so long that eventually he actually lost his job. He begged her to stop because he loves her. At this point most of the people in my family have given up on the situation because they're tired of telling him to leave just for him to back to her every time. It took me seeing some of these videos talking about domestic violence to realize that if he were a woman he would be treated very differently. Nobody would be asking him why he was staying or why he keeps going back if he was a woman. The double standards are not fair.

I ๐Ÿ˜Šfeel sorry for this actor who is the director of the film and holds the rights to adapt the book to the cinema. He shows the reality of the film and speaks out against domestic violence very accurately. Very disrespectful for this actress who wanted to take over his film. He talks about domestic violence, the main actress is more about selling the film like Barbie and selling the beverage products and hair products along with the film's premiere. And the book writer is selling nail polish and coloring books.

Iโ€™ve left my marriage and it was confronting reading your book. I hope this book educates young women of all the multiple ๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉred flags in his behaviour ๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ

This is all fascinating, because every colleen book Iโ€™ve read or heard about reads like she hates women. Every main woman has to bend over backwards to accommodate the trauma of the main man, and though this book ends on a different note, that ending even feels like a cop out for colleen to say โ€œhere, see! I donโ€™t hate women cause she doesnโ€™t continue to be abused!โ€ Anyway, not a huge colleen fan.

I just finished the movie and have not read the book yet. The problem is that most people don't leave as quickly as Ryle did.... they fight for custody, not really caring about the child, just using him or her as a pawn to continue to lure in and torture the other person. Lilly was brave to not f*ck around. She told Ryle straight away that she wanted a divorce and confronted him with clear examples of every time he laid a hand on her. That was brave (especially with her daughter in his hands) and it would just be a miracle if it worked that way. I hope it does for some people.

It is heart wrenching to leave, but it is possible. I did it. Also, what you can't do for yourself, you will do for your precious baby. I'd give my life for mine.
