Born in Hammersmith, with Jamaican roots, Lashana Lynch showed promise from an early age, becoming the first girl to be cast as Pinocchio in West London. She began her working life as a singer but won a scholarship to drama school, which changed the course of her career.

In 2019, she was cast as Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel and, two years later, she received a much-anticipated call from Barbara Broccoli of James Bond fame. Lashana won a Bafta for Rising Star in 2022 for her role as Nomi in No Time to Die, and subsequently landed her dream role as Rita Marley in Bob Marley: One Love. Her new show, Day of the Jackal, is on Sky from 7 November.

Nick mixes an alcohol-free Caleño for Lashana, while Angela prepares a delicious broccoli & anchovy pasta with crispy crumbs. The experts at Waitrose pair this with an Italian white wine, Tre Fiori Greco di Tufo.

Lashana loves food and shares her favourite comfort dishes, along with the occasional challenges of being a pescatarian. She pulls back the curtain on the Hollywood production process - and reveals how it feels to audition to be the new OO7 in the presence of Daniel Craig.

We are Northern. When my brother came out as gay, literally no-one cared. When he “came out” as vegetarian, it was a whole thing 🤣 We never try to force meat on him though and we even started doing meat free Mondays!

Big up to pescatarians! We are trying! I’m one, but don’t eat lobster or octopus. And fish only when I’m desperate for protein. I feel better physically without other meats and I’m glad I’m not eating chickens, pigs or lambs seeing how they are brutally slaughtered for consumption

Husband became pescatarian after he accidentally ate cow's brains in Paris. 😂 That was more than 30 years ago. Our eldest is a vegetarian when it comes to inflight meals - just like the dad.

So had this experience at an after school event. Was a starving teenager and a friend's mum had organised food and been told I was a vegetarian. When I arrived she directed me to a beef stew and explained she'd put extra vegetables in it just for me so I could fish them out really easily. Smh. I had a bowl of plain rice and a bread roll followed by several Mr Kipling French Fancies. Everything a growing girl needs after a major sporting event :-) :-)

I have 2 friends who are veggie and I always accommodate to them because behind there backs I've heard so many complaints because they are coming for Christmas or whatever so now they need to plan a whole other meal for these people and it annoys me because it's not that hard and quite easily done. So again I always accommodate to my veggie friends.
