His story would've been way more compelling than what we got with MaRey Sue. A stormtrooper that defects, finds Luke who properly trains him, follows the path of a Jedi, and rebuilds the Order for future generations? I mean come on!

I like the viewpoint expressed by Boyega.
However, Ingram's character though she got a lot of screen time, is still sadly a poorly written one with questionable motivations in the story.
It's not the actor's fault but the writers'.

I don't think race is the reason they made Boyega's character develop poorly, at least not consciously, it's just because they didn't know what they were doing.

Meanwhile it’ll be a whole fictional character that either doesn’t have a race, race isn’t relevant/crucial to the character, or even DESCRIBED as black in the books, but certain types of white people (mindset wise) think they are the default for EVERYTHING.

Like Rue from Hunger Games, was described as dark skin…they had a light skinned biracial girl play her and they STILL got mad which is interesting because she’s described as dark skinned, but you’re mad that she’s black instead of being mad that she’s too light…i thought it was about accuracy lmao. Shame . His character should have been a First Order spy. He infiltrates the resistance easily by saving Poe. I would love to see Fin’s Jedi journey . Most fans were just disappointed with bad movies rather than being racist.
