Speaking with reporters in Toronto, Annamie Paul announces that she will step down as leader of the Green Party. She calls her time as leader "the worst period" of her life. The announcement comes one week after Canada’s 44th general election and in the wake of months of internal disputes within the party concerning her leadership. Paul was not successful in her bid to win the riding of Toronto Centre. The Greens retain their fifth-place status in the House, having won two seats.
