First Potato Harvest Of 2022

Today we do the first potato harvest of 2022
which is from a raised bed on a concrete patio,
Its quite a shallow bed, with not a great deal of depth
This raised bed is actually the base of a single divan bed, which we saved from going to landfill, 3 months ago we filled this bed using the lasagna method: firstly we placed a layer of cardboard, then some compost we made in our garden compost bin, then a smattering of shop bought compost....
we then placed in some potato chits, and covered thinly with a layer of hay

We call those New Potatoes here when you pull or dig them before the tops die back . They are always more flavorful that way ! That is some beautiful composted soil you have created !

Thats a great harvest. i started growing veg this year. i made some raised wooden veg boxes with plastic liners.

Its so encouraging to see everyone out and growing these spuds. We will all learn from this. I will have to do some reveals of my own - I have about 15-20 containers full out back that I havnt even looked at yet.

Your looking great, hardly surprising when your eating what you grow . I grew up on this life until all the genetically modified food & sweetners, unreal how much sugar is in a baby’s cereal .. Keep em coming, take care god bless

That's a good clean harvest of first earlies there 😎 I knocked over a 30ltr bucket of 'pink fir apple' the other day & snapped the foliage off 🙄so decided to harvest them, A bit on the small size but absolutely delicious eating, I'll be growing these again for sure.

Potatoes in a 30 liter pot are very easy and take up less space. Then you could use the garden for other things. Just an idea as the pots can be placed in out of the way areas, like lining a fence or side f your home.
