Lindy did NOT take off from Roosevelt Island. He took off from Roosevelt Field, which is in a town on Long Island, called Mineola.

He flew from Roosevelt Field, 30 years ago, it was a race track . Now it is Roosevelt Shopping Mall, , in Nassau county Long Island . it is near Long Island expressway exit 38 ., not from Roosevelt island .. Please check . His residence that time was in Long Island Express Way Exit 37 .
