tiny sketchbooks are also great bc you feel MUCH LESS pressure to fill these big pages

I always get amazed when I see artists so freely experiment and draw whatever they like without worrying about what will it look like. I feel pressured and I give up as soon as something doesn't look perfect and I don't like having 'ugly' art in my sketchbook. I'm also scared of trying new things because I don't want to ruin something, like it's almost like my hobby is making me feel more anxious than relaxed.

I think the fact that you use your sketchbook so freely, without, in the exact way a sketchbook should be used and without questionning so much if it will look perfect makes you an artist that will develop their skills at least two times faster than the others

My only problem with art is that I dont feel motivated. I get motivated every 3 months (maybe longer). I tend to force myself to draw so I don’t lose any progress

A fun thing I’ve been doing in my current skecthbook is drawing song titles that have a name or a character description. I grab the extra traits from the lyrics themselves. It’s fun.

this video immediately reminded me that sketching is just for practice and fun, that it doesn't have to be perfect in fact it really shouldn't be. and I really needed that reminder

I just got out of my “drawing legit everyday non-stop phase” and now I have no ideas and I’m burnt out. This helped me so much 😭😭 thank you!!

You're so confident with your art. You didnt sketch the drawings in the beginning. That's where i want to be with my art

What are your go-to places to find visual references when doing serious art? I use Pinterest but I feel that I can never find things that I'd like to do.

a (hopefully) helpful tip:

Stick one big sticker or a couple little ones on your first page to break down that fear that it must be perfect. You can then doodle and sketch without constantly being paranoid about if it's perfect or not.
