Thank you for all the great comments :)
Corrections:
I Did not mention the Philippine-American War (1899-1902). This took place during the United States Military Government of the Philippine Islands 1898-1902 at 6:45 into the video.
The Philippine–American War was an armed conflict between the First Philippine Republic and the United States. I should have included this.
I pronounced several words wrong including Barangays, ifugao, and archipelago :(

The biggest misconception about my country is as if we started our history when spaniards arrived in 1521.

Filipinos in four words:

Soft-hearted; Hard-headed.

Raja - Datu - Bayan. Quite similar to Lombok, Indonesia. We also call our parent quite the same. Ina (mother in the Philippines) = Ina' (Mother in Lombok, Indonesia). Ama (Father in the Philippines) = Ama' (Father in Lombok, Indonesia). There are also many other similar words.

For someone who is not even a Filipino himself to make such detailed video about the history of the Philippines makes my heart ache a bit. This video is underrated, it deserves more views from “Filipinos” than those senseless, uneducable materials on YT. Thank you for your passion.

After hundreds of years under colonization, the Philippines completedly lost their own identity. So sad!

Thanks for helping make Philippine history accessible to the general public. I wrote down some names and things to begin my search for more history on my mother’s country!

Awesome video! BUT:

The Spanish were able to gain control of the coastal areas of the northern and central islands, but not the southern islands, where Islam was deeply rooted, and the jungle interior and highlands, where indigenous tribes, including headhunters, were able to repel Spanish incursions.

As a Singaporean Malay, this video shed some light as to why alot of Filipinos looks like Malays. It's cos we're cousins haha

Having worked with different Filipinos over the years, they seems to have one thing in common they never give up even when the odds are stuck against them.

I was surprised that a Philippine girl could understand me talking in Spanish! I was soo confused and she told me about the Spanish rule in the Philippines! I didn't know the Spanish went that far! Wow

Thank you for making this. I’ve learned more about my heritage in 8 minutes than I have the past 30 years.

My father’s family were the Cheiftains of Ifugao, the Igorots of this area. (I say this bc many people I’ve encountered are embarrassed or down play their Igorot lineage.) My mom’s maternal grandfather was the great Datu of modern day Benguet (Igorot Area). After the US politically organized the mountains of Luzon, the US appointed him as mayor of Kapangan (which drastically shrunk his fiefdom). When you visit the courthouse of Kapangan you will see, Fianza’s name in the list of chiefs and mayors. For some clarification, the US gave large portions of Igorot lands of modern day Baguio and Benguet to several rich and politically savvy Ilocanos. That is why igorots have not historically been mayors of Baguio or have been at the high end of business leaders. Basically, we were cut out of the democratization of our lands.

See im an igorot and 4ever be proud. proud that we are warriors with heart and soul we love our lands and locked it down for years we protect our children culture and lands. northern luzon will always be feared because of our fierce love to our lands. People criticize us because of our "wanes"(tailed costume) but no. it just shows that we preserve our culture and 4ever be passed generation by generation.
