California Dreamin' but you're an NCR 1st Recon Trooper and Shady Sands just got nuked

You're an NCR 1st Recon Trooper on your way home to Shady Sands to visit your family while on military leave. You obseve a large nuclear explosion coming from the direction of Shady Sands. After stopping, you and your fellow NCR Troopers you are with hear a radio transmission to head towards Vault City.

Still in shock from the loss of your family and home, you march north to Vault City until you are ambushed by Brotherhood of Steel forces that caught wind of Shady Sands' fall. The Brotherhood of Steel decided to change the tide of the long ongoing NCR-BOS war.

I've gotta say it because it doesn't seem like a lot of people understand. The NCR is not completley wiped out, only Shady Sands was nuked and the show takes place only in that same region. Todd Howard confirmed Shady Sands was not nuked in 2277, but after the events of New Vegas. The reasons as to WHY Shady Sands was nuked with the Vault-Tec plot line is spotty, I agree, but I'm sure there will be more revealed in season 2. Lucy's entire plot has been centered around the NCR, and I believe she will have a big role in rebuilding the NCR in some way in season 2. Again Todd Howard confirmed the NCR is not dead.

Really like the recording of the message. I still cannot believe that this event is canon. Message perfectly captures the atmosphere, sounds so bleak that I can actually imagine the dread atmosphere of the first moments after the attack. Great job

Its completely disheartening to know my favorite faction just got nuked just because of a marital dispute.

Then they made Fallout Tactics not cannon, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Fallout tactics fan.

Then they came for New Vegas and Shady Sands—and there was no one left to speak for me..

I was imagining how my man Boone, finally found something as close to happiness or peace as he could in his journey with the Courier. Courier and Boone joked about how they are the ultimate problem solvers after the Hover Dam. They bid each other farewell. Courier remained in New Vegas, and Boone took a long-deserved vacation to Shady Sands while hunting Legion remnants on his way, only for him to hear this radio broadcast

The NCR isnt gone, they likely moved their capital up north to a more major city like The Hub, New Reno, Vault City, or Arroyo. They are regrouping/rebuilding what little territorries that they have left in Northern California

Note: Shady Sands Were nuked by Lucy´s Dad, what im talking about is that after the Nuke, you can see how the BoS were the ones who take control.

Edit: It seems that the NCR is still giving the good Fight, and we as loyal citizens should continue this one. There is many things to rebuild, dont give up!

You know, I could almost accept this as a plot element in general. But what really gets me is how the entire region has somehow been completely reduced to a wasteland again. Shady Sands was in the heartland of the NCR. There should be tons of post-war towns, farms, that kind of thing. Somehow, though, 15-20 years after a single city was destroyed, the whole area looks less developed than it was in Fallout 1.
