Hi, a programmer here. I haven't looked at the code, but I have an educated guess that the app closing-reopening-crash bug happens because when you try to close a particular app, there's a certain number of instructions, that need time to happen to actually close the app. Because the animation finishes amongst the first instructions, you're able to execute touch instructions that start the initializing process of the app, and when the last instruction of the closing process executes, takes away some initialize parameters, and it crashes.

And that's why, probably the reason you can't reproduce it on a slower processor is because the initialization instructions don't have enough compute power left to execute as fast as, or faster than the closing instructions, and you're simply running them after closing, which is the right order, which means you just initialize it normally and the app starts again.

I can easily reproduce it constantly on my iPhone 13 Pro, running stable iOS 16.4 software.

iPhone 13 Pro here and holy cow the glitchy-ness is insane. I left Android because I was so tired of all the glitches and issues (a ton of the issues were my old carrier (carrier would blame the phone as an excuse to not fix anything). It's getting to the point where I almost regret switching

I had so many bugs. I stopped using an iPhone. Screen flicker, screen going completely black, screen freezing, volume on video not playing, random pocket dialing, not being able to answer calls, I could go on. My device was the iPhone 14 Pro Max. For now, I joined the darkside Android. S23 Ultra

I find my self doing another thing you didn't mentioned: Many times I'm getting used to a bug so much, that I forget that is there and I have learned to avoid it almost unconsciously, so I'm not considering it a bug anymore.

I’m with a 13 pro max and I could make a 3 page list just with bugs I’ve found between Mac, iPhone, tv, HomePods etc. this year it has just been a nightmare all around

come on… stability is important, but ios is missing so much features, especially in messages!

I don’t think 120hz makes much of a difference to me but being someone with a 14pro the glitches/small bugs interrupt my flow much more than 60hz does. There have been iOS releases that felt really smooth.

I have an Apple Music bug, where at the end of a song it will just stick there, I can’t skip or anything, even if it lets me skip to the next song it’s just stuck there until I close the music app

I for myself am experiencing many many many bugs in Apples software. The times of „It Just Works“ are long gone. iPhone XS, 13“ MacBook Pro 2017 and 11“ iPad Pro 2018. I bought into the Apple ecosystem because I wanted to focus on the work I have to do and NOT on the device not doing what I want it to do. It’s gotten definitely worse.

The badness level of a bug must be correlated with how much time it takes from you🤓; the more time it takes away, the worse the bug is😉

I had a ton of bugs on my (base model) iPhone 14 while on iOS 16.4. I had issues with the weather app, the weather widget, and the camera app. After updating to iOS 16.4.1 I haven’t had any issues at all. So I guess that’s a pretty big improvement 😅🤷‍♂️

I’m not experiencing any bugs at all on my 14 Pro Max.It’s been pretty good throughout iOS 16 so far.Battery life wasn’t too good the first couple of weeks I got it back in September but after the first couple of software updates it drastically improved and has been great ever since.I’d say now that it is almost as good as what the battery life was on my 13 Pro Max so I have no complaints.

iOS 16.4.1 - Music - The randomized playlist are sorted in alphabetical order above the played song, and randomized right under the played son.
The equalizer setting revert to off even though it's set to rock or jazz. ( workaround : Chose another EQ setting and go back to the the one that you originally prefer)

I feel that it honestly depends on the devices that you are on. Because personally on my iPhone 14, it’s not really buggy but on my iPhone SE 2020 it was SUPER BUGGY and in some betas it’s unusable. I feel that Apple is trying to focus on the new iPhones and in that process leaves all the other phones in the dust, but the problem comes in because most of the people who owns iPhones are not the newest model.

You want an iOS 16 bug? Ok, I use a screen reader called voiceover for the crime of being blind. If I type too fast, the keyboard just vanishes. At unpredictable points throughout the day, the voice just vanishes, any calls I’m having are dropped and the device either freezes for a second or reboots. On macOS it is now impossible to route voiceover through an external output, either directly through system settings or through voiceovers own settings. I’m a musician, this means I can’t plug my Mac into any of my audio gear. Stage manager isn’t fully or easily usable with voiceover. Dock grid stacks no longer work with voiceover if they scroll. When opening desktop stacks with voiceover, instead of *displaying* every file’s icon, macOS *opens* every file. Imagine that when you wanted to use stacks to clear up the 96 word docs on your desktop, I nearly had an aneurysm. I’ve reported all four of these. The systems that I’ve paid 10s of thousands for have all been nerfed this year, but we were all lead to believe apple cared about accessibility.

Volumen button not working here: iPhone 8 iOS 16.4.1; it’s not showing any change on the control center; I restarted and nothing improved.

macOS 13.3.1 - FaceTime video calls. When making the window bigger (dragging the lower edge 3 cm downwards) it moves the entire FaceTime window 10 cm to the right. It continues to do so each time I make the window bigger until its ends outside the screen area. (workaround: restart FaceTime or the computer).
