Back Splicing a Rope How to Back Splice a Rope (Splicing Tutorial)
How to Back Splice Rope. Splice - describes the act of joining the ends, or the end and a standing part, by interweaving strands. The Back Splice is used to stop the end of a stranded rope from unlaying, especially when it is in constant use. Also when back splicing the cords can be made thinner so as to taper the back splice as you work your way down. This is done by removing a third of the cords after each tuck.
