After over a year I was lost between all the tutorials and jumbing from to there, but after watching ur videos I know what I need to learn, I decided for the platform that I need to build is going to be Java, and Python to build other suppodrting tools and reporting .... I am 36 years old and some people said u r too old for, but I am in college and learning on my own as well, and I feel I am doing it and shorly I am going to be able to start building my dream platform

Haha... This was indeed motivating to learn to code better. Honestly Sir, the way you explain things and review books is really good and helps a lot. This video was unanticipated and showed that no one can beat you in humor. I also loved your video where you go to the kitchen to make coffee... Really love your content, keep making such quality videos and help us learn in such an entertaining manner :)

You should be an actor. Btw its a good way to tickle interest in coding.

You are a pretty decent actor too, by the way. :))

Thank you! I need this today. I just spent HOURS trying to learn a new library and I don’t feel like I understand it any better than I did yesterday. This put a little smile on my face, despite it all.

Thanks for the videos. Like many, I got into programming by watching tutorial videos, but felt I was in over my head and walked away from programming for awhile. Then one weekend, I taught myself the basics of website design and put together a simple website, I got a good feeling when my code ran successfully. After that, I went down a rabbit hole of coding text based adventure games and other for fun projects. Learning to code is not something you rush through, if anything you need to give yourself atleast a year of working through tutorials (to become familiar with syntax) and coding fun projects (to build confidence and tinker with code, without the pressure of a manager looking over your shoulder). Then, if you feel coding is a good career to pursue, then throw yourself into online courses. I no longer stress out about when and where I am going to get my first job, instead, I am building a technical skill and that is very useful in todays job market.

Hi Mr.Giles! Just so you know I always watch you, and you gave me strength to ignore my age (27) and start to learn again. I'm now in the forest of disenchantment! Thank you.

Brilliant advice! I mostly use vba for work related stuff on MS products, and a bit of python for stuff I do at home. But that generic skill of breaking something down into a process is so useful in many things (not just coding, but process management and design in management). I think everyone should be taught to code in school these days!

I am sorry but I almost had to click the dislike button at the part where the "terminator Jedi master" said :

"I can show you the path but it's up to you to follow it ..." (and then SACRILEGE!!)
"... come with me."

it should say instead: "come with me IF YOU WANT TO CODE!!!" .... but still clicked the like button on account of that video delivering a good message ;)
