The Mustang GT has finally made a return with the mighty 4th generation Coyote 5.0! With an extreme refresh to the car, I was invited out to give my initial thoughts on the S650 Mustang GT and thankfully there's a lot to talk about. Does it live up to the overall fantastic legacy of the S550? Let's talk about it.

Honestly the S650 is great - it just shows how far the S550 took the Mustang compared to the past. Thoughts?

The fact the Mustang was the first and now last muscle car on the market really hits…

Every time a manufacturer says "completely locked ecu" if you listen closely you can hear the collective laughter of every tuner out there

I cant get behind the the dash screens it just seems lazy to slap screens in there instead of some nicely designed gauges and i hate that the dash shape is changed

Definitely not enough of a improvement to justify upgrading from a s550. IMO the 15-17 s550 looked the best.

I dont like the amount of electronics being put into modern cars but I understand that some is required and some is demand. Since the s550 the mustang is the only ford I would buy and that hasn't changed with this one

The fact that they put foxbody gauges in the car says that the fox body is pretty unique in the Mustangs history

Mustang is the love of my life. Will always be my favorite.

Hoping the styling grows on me like the G8x M’s over the years. Don’t love it (yet), but don’t hate it. I agree with the other comments about the dash screens, same feel as BMW’s transition from built in screen to one big curved one for MY ‘23. Feels so freaking lazy and tacked on no matter how “flashy” the software tries to make it look. Glad at least Ford is keeping these cars on the road, shame for the end of the challenger and Camaro.

I'm not a fan of digital gauges, I prefer analog gauges, less things to fail if something happens, I want that engine though in my New Edge lol

Take me back to when car companies actually designed their dashes.

Finally got my car in after 7 months of waiting. Got a 23 GT premium with every option. Minus the wifi hotspot. You were the channel that made my final decision on the s550. Yes its a 6 speed. Been watching for eons now and always liked the mustang. Keep up the vids man!

It doesn't look bad its just kinda meh. Also I think that if they're gonna go for the big screen, they should fill in the rest of the dash with some sorta trim idk just looks odd to me

I had an 04 cobra I paid 20k for in 2019 and it made 481whp and 523rwtq. Now that’s power for $! New cars are just plain wayyy too expensive.

Still going to rock my 13' Boss 302. Don't care for all the gadgets and screens on the S650, and not a huge fan of the styling either. Plus a live axle is just more enjoyable to hoon with.

I don't like the screens. Or at least in the lower optioned GT's (where it's basically 2 separate tablets just stuck on the dash, which is also boring compared to the previous ones). I also agree that the design aesthetics of the car might be an acquired taste.

As you highlighted, Ford kept the best elements of the last generation, and added some hoonigan type of factory options, which was smart since the other V8 vehicles from Detroit are slowly disappearing, so the Mustang is kinda the last option for the US Muscle crowd.

An honest and informative review as always!

As soon as something goes wrong with the dual "Ipad" dash ... and what it costs to fix or replace it. You'll see how much love there is.

1000% right on the jump from s197 to s550. The s550 is an all around great car. Lightyears ahead of the generations previous but gave great homage with the dash layout. That is my biggest turn off with the s650. Although the duel TB intake is going to look damn good on twin turbo coyote swap foxes and new edge's

As the engineers progress I'm sure the car gets more refined. However, i think I like the styling of the S550 more though.
