Ciro de Siena and Ashley Oldfield analyse how the Audi RS3, BMW M2, Mercedes-AMG A45 and Civic Type R fared on track.

By now you will have watched our latest track race featuring the Audi RS3, Honda Civic Type R, Mercedes-AMG A45 and BMW M2. If you haven’t watched the in-depth feature video and read the article, do so here"

A video like this will be a massive conversation starter in the form of YouTube comments or social media responses. Many will be arguing about which car should have won from the comfort of their keyboards, but only one person really knows how those cars performed on that rain-soaked day.

Ashley Oldfield is our in-house racing driver and he brings motorsport pedigree into our content offering. He won the Nissan GT Academy and went on to be a professional racing driver for Nissan. Now he drives for us and if there’s one man who can safely find the limits of these cars, its Ashley.

Here’s a video where Ashley Oldfield and Ciro de Siena talk in detail about each car’s on-track performance. Could some cars have gone faster? Maybe. How many split seconds could be shaved in various sectors? Which car would we take home if we had the choice? Ashley answers these questions and more, here.

Let us know what you thought of the race in the comments below.

You’ll find performance stats and specifications for all the cars presented at the end of the video.

why in the hell would you use standing start in such a comparision? pitting the fwd civic against rwd an 4wd cars with much more hp and having a standing start? that is one of the dumbest things I have seen and absolutely does nothing to show any sort of comparision between those cars!

Funny thing is I'm of the understanding the A45 are restricted till there first service then after that has cleared it allows full power, I may be wrong if so feel free to correct me.

I can only imagine someone buying the Type R for the occasion - it is different, but as Ashley said, manufacturers have moved onto all-wheel-drive dynamics and Honda have just latched onto turbocharging.

Why does the guy keep suggesting, in every video, that a bigger engine could have a better performance? If the figures are the same (or actually a little worse for the BMW), wouldn't' it be the opposite, since bigger engine means more weight? I'm just talking about performance, ok, and in that sense it seems an unfair suggestion to make with the M2. I guess a bigger engine could deliver a smaller turbo lag (and i'm really just guessing here), but that means nothing at a race track (and the way they were tested there), since all have all torque available at low RPM.

Just look at the real car shows like HEAD TO HEAD, IGNITION, EVO etc. Everywhere they make flying lap because that is the real lap time, and that why it is called LAP TIME and not SPRINT time. You make SPRINT time ! Which is kind of nothing to be honest. In the world of motorsport racing everywhere they make LAPTIMES and not SPRINTTIMES.

When you make lap time it has to be from flying start, so this is unfair comparisson and it's not right.NOWHERE in the world don't measure laptimes from standing start !!! So put down at least 2 seconds on HONDA and 1 on BMW and that would be the real lap times !!!
