The world's smallest snake, the blind snake or worm snake is one of the weirdest animals on earth with a secret weapon. I go to the Philippines to get my hands on the tiniest snake you've ever seen. Brahminy blind snake is the best.

This was excellent, Donny! Blind snakes are always fun to work with, and their reproductive strategy is absolutely fascinating. Can’t wait to see the rest of the content from the Philippines, I’m sure you got some awesome stuff. Great work as always!

We called these worm snakes and found them all over the Tampa/Oldsmar, Fl area in oak leaf litter and especially at plant nurseries.

Dear Donny,
Bit of a long message here, sorry for this.
After watching your video i checked out Brian Barczyk's channel which i used to be sub'd to but due to hectic work life i unsub'd. I shouldn't have done that. He has passed away with Pancreatic Cancer at 54 recently and posted his last video in a Hospice before his demise.
Did you know Brian?
He was remarkable and i have to admit i went to bed last night in floods of tears. I am 58 years old and ex Military but Brian's last video was such a shock to watch last night.
If it wasn't for the likes of Brian and Steve Irwin in this World we would know nothing of the amazing Reptile/ Animal World around us. Keep up your amazing job Donny and i wish you the very best for your future. Your uploads are great.

What a great video! I learned so much about this little snake. I didn't know they were parthenogenic. And I had no idea they were so widespread. I might get to see one myself one day!

I have found 2 in my back yard in Nairobi, I think they are also called flower pot snakes

I lifted up a rock in my yard and saw what I thought at first was a worm but it didn't look right. Looking at it more I realized it was a tiny snake. Looked like the snake in the video.
I live in SC.

Got to love the snakes. Best pest control money could only dream of buying.

These are SO CUTE. I found one by accident in California many years ago, I doubt it was the same type of snake but it was very tiny and couldn't eat any sort of adult insect I can think of. Ant larvae would make sense.
😄👍

I'm devastated, I cut the poor thing up into bite sized pieces to feed my gecko thinking it was an earthworm, but I had never seen a worm with red blood so I took a closer look and realized it had a little mouth. She was still very alive and moving and I felt horrible so I made her a cast with chopsticks and taped the three pieces toghether, her chances are very slim, but I had to do my best. If she doesn't live I'll have to give her a proper burial. I have such a deep love for nature, but today I was reminded that human interference is inherently destructive. Because it is often not bad intentions, but ignorance that coupled with our ability to literally and metaphorically move mountains with the tools we have made for ourselves, that can create such a devastating effect on the world around us.

Unfortunate to have happened in this manner, but I'm learning how fascinating creatures these little girls are, also very interesting that they clone themselves. Thank you for the video!

Threadsnakes: “We chose to evolve into blind worms, then clone ourselves to stay like this forever”

Genetic Drift: “You’ll surely go extinct”

Threadsnakes: “Ah, yes. But, for a moment in time, we will dominate the world.”

I just found out about this snake today. I found it in our kitchen. At first i thought its just a worm. But the way it moves something tells me its a snake. Then i tried using google lens and was terrified to find out it is really a snake. But its all good since its a blind snake anyway and pretty harmless. 😂

Sad to say that we thought they were poisonous since it's too tiny, ,
