Learn to Manual your MTB

I was always envious of people who could manual. It looks so stylish and effortless, but I thought it was out of my reach. I decided in June 2020 that I was going to keep practicing until I got my manuals. I practiced 3-4 times a week for 20-25 minute sessions. After four months I started to feel confident in my manual skills. In this video I included some helpful tips and drills I would often do during my practice, along with a realistic expectations of how long this skill takes to master. You won't get it overnight and that's okay!
Best of luck with your practice.

I’m like the most jealous person of your manual!! So sick Fife!
Edit: I’d like to add that another very important aspect in performing a manual is keeping your arms straight and having your hip over the rear axle.

One of the best manual vids I've seen. Totally agree - have been doing the wheelie thing most lunch-hours for about 20 mins and after 3 months am about 75% for wheelies. Next is the dreaded manual - see you in 6 months...

From someone that watches GMBN and other larger channels, this is a top tier video! Keep it up!

Love your style. Got a real charm to how you explain things.

you rock! These are very good tips. Some of them I realized myself, as I am now trying to learn wheelies. One thing that none of these "how to wheelie / manual" vids NEVER mention is how physically tiring it is to learn. Umpteen failed liftoffs ends up being quite an aerobic workout, with lots of sweating. I routinely bike in the mountains and 1 mile vertical climbs are no problem for me, but my heart rate during wheelie and endo turn practices gets significantly higher than during my all day mountain trips.

One of the best tutorials I have seen yet. A regular and consistent practice schedule has been my biggest hurdle. Given it is now mid November, I have about 3 to 4 months of non-stop rain up here in Vancouver BC to ensure that I continue to struggle with that!

I’m so impressed with you developing this skill. Having seen first hand how you’ve gotten better it makes it absolutely clear that it’s possible and you have to be consistent with practice. Sweet video!

You truly have one of the most impressive wheelie & manual progressions that I've seen. I love the advice of sticking to a realistic schedule for practice, so true. I practiced some wheelies and a couple of attempts to manual today, but I couldn't remember when was the last time that I had practiced these skills. As always, I found your video very encouraging!

OK, time for me to go learn to manual. Your video on wheelies got me out trying to do that. Still haven't mastered that, but will try the schedule thing, then on to the manuals. Great job!
