A very interesting design. My most interesting (for me) take-away from this video was the exposure to the traditional Asian clay charcoal burners. This inspires me to do a bit research on those devices.

I just received this yesterday via Amazon and used it as an alcohol stove this morning to make coffee. It works very well. The distance between burner and kettle seems just right and the flame was nicely contained and focused. I also appreciate that the burner snuff cap has a handle on it that allows one to put out the flame through the front opening, as opposed to dropping it on the burner from above.

A nice Review .. thanks.
Another Variation on a Theme and I tend to agree with you .. would make for a neat little Charcoal Burner (Flat / Apartment Balcony) .. snug under a blanket, the little Malti-Poo for company, toasting Marshmallows whilst watching the New Year Firework Display across the Rhine in Germany and just down the River in the local village 😊.
Both my IKEA Hobo and Bush Box Essentials LF Stoves regularly perform this service (amongst others).
Placed inside a Dixie, bottom covered in water to protect any underlying surface from possible heat damage and Bob's your Uncle. One could do the same with the Alocs on 'heat sensitive' surfaces.
Oh yes .. Fireworks don't fuss the Pooch at all. She curls up and goes to sleep on my lap, loosely covered by a section of rug.
Take care ..

Hi Mark,

I have been considering this stove for quite some time and didn't see any quality reviews. And typical for your channel, this was a well done presentation.
Please don't take this as sarcasm, but you are the new king 👑of testing stove outside and Hiram Cook is the king 👑 testing stove indoors. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

Since I like frying eggs over a camp stove, this looks like a perfect stove for that purpose. At least while using charcoal. Thanks for another enjoyable video.

My immediate thought upon seeing this is that it is very similar to the BCB Crusader stove, Mark 2, issued to the British Army. BCB is a company in Wales specialising in survival/bushcraft/military kit. Personally I prefer the LIxada folding stoves, I can use my Trangia burner in it, use it with twigs if my methylated spirits is running low or if I feel like it, or Esbit/Hexi solid fuel tablets, because it folds flat and takes up virtually no room. I use it with a GI style Dutch army canteen cup, or Dutch army stainless steel mess tins, or other steel pots/pans.

Impressive, looks like a winner ! Versatile fuel use is of mega importance these days, as open flame fires increasingly become restricted.

Just a side note, in Japan, they generally don’t boil the water for tea, ideally just short of boiling.
This stove works with charcoal exactly like the traditional ones do.
Cool little stove.

Thanks for this video Mark, you always do good explanations in your videos. This stove reminds me of the Red Camp Alcohol Stove (Trangia knockoff) with stand I just purchased and have used it a couple of times. I like it for what it is--alcohol stove. The Red Camp stand can be used in basically 3 positions. The Stanley Cook set pot fits perfectly inside. The stand of your ALOCS stove can also be used to burn bio fuels and charcoal in additions to the alcohol and gas. I like your modification of the pot stand. How multipurpose is that! Great versatile stand/stove. I like your addition of the pot stand. I wouldn't try that with my Red Camp stand except in an emergency.

By building the fire on top of the charcoal, I have found that the charcoal is ready to use sooner. Just a thought.

Just ordered one! I am thinking about fitting a small grill to the top. I really like my Trangia alcohol stove, but I have an Alocs one as well, and it works fine. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Hello Mark,
We spent a winter travelling through Asia a few years back, and saw a larger clay version of your stove used everywhere.
Being a bit of a stove geek, I kicked myself for not bringing one home.
All the best, and thanks for all the great videos,
Ben

Hi Mark,

I really enjoyed your video. There is a point that the inside of the furnace will be high temperature when using a Gas furnace. So there can be no leather pipe in it, only the accessories specially designed by ALOCS can be used.
