Wheel Speed Sensor Operation & Testing

preview_player
Показать описание

Critical vehicle systems such as ABS, Stability and Traction Control rely on the precise data provided by wheel speed sensors for correct operation.

These sensitive sensors require specific equipment to test and an understanding of their operation and signal outputs to ensure accurate diagnosis.

Be aware many modern vehicles now use hall effect wheel speed sensors that actually contain a magnetically sensitive transistor and require a reference voltage sent out by the ABS unit to function, there principle of operation is different and they require a different diagnostic procedure to test..

Would a rusty hub in these groove cause brake issues? I have a relative who says fmdealer cant find issue and i checked pads and rotors and brake line and they all look fine and caliper isnt sticking. But there is alot of surface rust on the calipers. I didnt check these grooves for rust or being clogged. So its my theory until confirmed by specialist.

For all you physics people out there. This device takes advantage of something called the Hall Effect.

So the when the number of pulses equal the disk's teeth number the control unit consider it one full round then the program multiply the r.p.m with the radius of the wheel to give the transitional speed .. here what i see the radius is from the horizontal center of the wheel to the friction point between the wheel and the road which smaller than the radius in opposite direction due to gravity and the elasticity of the wheel, so if the wheel's pressure is low the actual speed lower than the given speed by C.U, and if the pressure is high so the actual speed is higher than the speed that given by C.U.
Am i wrong?

I am unable to find an ABS Wheel speed sensor for the drivers side of my Ford F53, can I use a passenger side ABS Wheel speed sensor? ie is the signal produced polarized and be reversed?

A good simple explanation, thank you.

why does the field changes even when the wheel is not magnetic?

I have a Side by side and it has a speed sensor in the rear differential how can I change the info coming from it, going to the computer? Maybe a resistor?

I have a question, why abs sensor will damage after many years, maybe two years or 20000 km, i think car computer will send biggest volt or current to abs sensor and let it damage when you drive many times, just Manufacturer wnat to get more money, Maybe i can install a fuse in front of abs sensor, computer will not destroy my abs sensor, how about you think?

Do u have any sensor for vehicle detection?
Probably that should consume very less current

Not a real video, this is nothing but a commercial for training. Very little info, boringly put together and the comments here provide more info than what you see. Then there is that voice on the video, it reminds of creeps I've met that turn me right off. I can't put my finger on it exactly but there is no way on hell that I'll ever be a client of this business.

Here is a nutshell description.
Speed sensors are, Hall Effect devices that provide a pulse of voltage for every time a magnet passes within a specified close distance. Those pulses are then processed as pulses per second or speed or revolutions.
You can move a magnet in front of one with a DC multimeter or use a scope to see the DC waveform.
Thats it.
