DJI - Phantom Firmware update Safety feature integration

preview_player
Показать описание
All unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators should abide by all regulations from such organizations as the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and their own national airspace regulations. In order to increase flight safety and prevent accidental flights in restricted areas, the new firmware for the Phantom 2 series includes a No Fly Zones feature to help users use this product safely and legally.

This is a great feature. To many people ignore safety and restrictions.

Well...as an owner of an original Phantom and the Vision I have to congratulate DJI for encouraging me to buy any future multirotors from a competitor.  Way to go DJI!!  Thank you for reminding me how irresponsible I am when I fly.

Kudos to DJI for the forward thinking on aerial imagers and being compliant and safe for us all. Thanks! K & D Action Photo and Aerial Imaging.

Fix the fly aways first !!! How many airport related problems have happened compared to fly aways ??  We, users are responsible to fly in safe areas, you guys at DJI are responsible to provide us a safe to fly and reliable quad-copter !

Absolutely no go! With this firmware nobody would pay for this. If this will be indroduced in all copters I will begin to build my own.

DJI's way of staying ahead of potential litigation. Good thinking on their part. Sucks for the Consumer, but smart for the damages mitigation.

If you choose to do this, DJI, then why on Earth is there a much greater restriction imposed on users of the Ground Station????
PLEASE DON'T IGNORE YOUR CUSTOMERS BUT INSTEAD ADDRESS OUR CONCERNS!!!

Better than being restricted by a much heavier drone law in the future id say

I agree with this totally, I even made a video a few weeks back about UAV flight safety and the adjustments are spot on!

I bet they'll have a feature in the future that warns the FAA if you have enter restricted airspace. Then they'll send you a fine in the mail.

Looks like I'll be selling my DJI stuff soon if this Babysitting Attitude persists.

Dji! No babysitting please! The bit where the phantom has to LAND in the airport if it does go there, makes no sense! It should be return to home or just fly back out of that restricted circle!

This is NOT something users want. I have a good relationship with my local airports and have worked with every local tower or control center. I get clearance to fly and they have been great, but this "update" takes away my control. If you enabled it by default, that would be fine, but it cannot be disabled. I understand you wanting to avoid liability, but not even the FAA in the USA dictates 5 miles.

A local international airport shuts down a runway once a year for a 5K and I had clearance to record the event with my UAV, and this update prevents me from using my aircraft as I see fit, even when it is in a responsible and authorized manner.

Users were not asking for it and this was just thrown upon use with zero warning. I will not purchase any DJI product again if it contains the crippleware.

There is an airport in my town that is not listed as no fly zone on your map, yet it is very active with smaller planes.

I was just about to place an order for two units, guess I'll be keeping my Raptors handy!

So if my phantom suddenly lost control and gps signal and flew into 1.5mile-0.6mile  "safety zone" and the GPS signal suddenly become strong. Means it's going to land on the runway ? smart move DJI... it should be set to fly home or fly out of the "safety zone" instead landing in the airport.
