Your FIRST Days as a Mail Carrier BREAKDOWN - CCA Edition

This video will discuss my experience as a CCA. I started in 2015 with the postal service. Alot has changed since i started this journey, but its been a blast so far. I am a career employee now and my job title is Carrier Technician.
I understand the struggles of being a CCA. The work of a CCA is very vital to every office. Without CCAs, the office would not run as smoothly, and the regular carriers would get burned out while salaries shoot through the roof!

Retired 2019 33 years. Hang in there it will be a good living for you one day. When you learn all the routes in your office it will get better.

Thank you for your videos, I'm a Brand new CCA and it's been rough. This is my 3rd day of OJT, and after today, I think I'm on my own, I'm not giving up, this has got to work, can't fumble a great opportunity

That's wild they put brand new newbies to set up their routes. In our office they'll have someone set it up for you (double case) and have you learn learn a route or two and get familiar with how to carry before putting you on a case.

Wow . Now you clock in on your scanner. How things have changed since I retired in 2015. Was a carrier for 30 years. Great video. This man is telling it like it is. Pay attention

I resigned after about 2 months, 2 weeks in the field as a CCA. For me, the only thing that would make this job awesome is if I worked out of an office with no walk out routes, and didn't have to deliver mail in the ghetto. They do exist, but they rarely have any CCA openings. Since I resigned the right way, all I have to do is keep my eye open for the right posting and apply.

Our office doesn't let new CCAs case for the first 6 months. Regulars case our routes starting at 7, and we come in at 8:30 to roll out onto the street immediately. Larger offices are also supposed to guarantee 4 hours of work. So if we clock in at 8:30, we are guaranteed pay until 12:30. I'm almost 3 months in and they haven't told me that they haven't needed me for a day yet, but I'm told we have decent management at my station.

You check your drawer see if they have route tells you starting and ending street which should help you flag your mail if not at the case just ask supervisor for the route sheet

Regular carrier here; this is a great explanation you have given. I even used some of what I heard too. Thanks for this one bro. Much respect!

Ive had a hard time with this. Im on my first week as a cca and I hate not understanding the case flow. Its frustration. I also understand that its completely out of my wheelhouse of knowledge. Im coming from the chef life. I enjoy the job so far

If you show up as scheduled, you are garaunteed 2 or 4 hours, depending on size of office. You don't have to clock in. You still should though.

I started last week and I’m physically exhausted and I had a 6 hour route which is considered short, but it takes me 7-8 hours. They give me another piece when I get done and I just cry. It’s hot, my brain and body are subpar and I don’t have any idea how to do the piece and it’s frustrating. I’m going to try casing my own route because the way the other carriers case it, isn’t helpful. I couldn’t finish the pieces and I’ve questioned whether I can do this.
