Growing up, I had access to safety, education, driving a car, university, marriage, a passport, and a job.
To me, those things were normal.
But these are things 10 Million people around the world never will... 😳

Located in 🇲🇾 🇧🇩🇲🇲🇨🇮 🇹🇭 (any many more)
This video was filmed in late 2019 pre-corona. Any stateless people that get sick also cannot get medical help as they are not registered. It makes even daily life almost impossible.

I am Malaysian, and I knew about this problem. Listen. Let's be logical here. Back before Tanah Melayu ( previous Malaysia's name) free from British, it's so hard for Chinese and Indian people who by that time considered as refugees to actually got citizenship. Hundreds, thousands even of debate about their citizenship. It's really hard for them to get the citizenship back then. Because Tanah Melayu considered as Malay's race and orang asli territory since they stay there the longest. (Since Malacca Empire). This happened because there's a lot of things to be considered. Such as different ideology and different lifestyle, different social standing. These things really need to be considered as it's could effect the peace of people live here. We don't want tragedy 13 May to be repeated itself.
Ps . And actually nowadays, whoever stay legally in Malaysia more tha 10/12 years can ask citizenship from Malaysia's government.

One of the common reasons (of course there are many other causes) of being stateless: When an illegal immigrant enters a country illegally, has children with locals (without legal marriage registration), their children won’t be able to get registered for their birth certificates nor receive any form of ID, hence becoming stateless. Well, what about getting registered in the illegal immigrant’s origin country? In most cases, the origin country won’t accept the children as well since they were born in another country. And Alyne conveniently forgot to mention that the “more than 10 million people who don’t have a country” is a WORLDWIDE statistic, not only in Malaysia. Kinda misleading title to relate that figure to. “The People With No Country! (Stateless People in Malaysia).

Alyne forgot to mention that there are many people that are stateless IN THE WORLD, and not specifically Malaysia. Which is kinda misleading the title to it only being in Malaysia. But I watched it and you really did a good job not only speaking for them but for speaking for many other stateless people around the world!

Many people whom are stateless in Malaysia are refugees and the Bajau laut bajau consists of Bajau laut(Sea Bajaus) and Bajau darat(Bajaus who lives on the land and many have Documents, certificate, etc) Sea Bajaus don't receive state as they can choose and can roam freely between The Phillipines, Malaysia & Indonesia and they can sell to wholebuyers in any of the 3 countries mentioned. Many sea bajaus are those who live nomadic between ID, MY, PH. the rest are mainly from Myanmar mainly Rohingya and the Karen People, Our country is trying to solve this problem, we've already dealt with it in the past, and UN says that Indonesia & Malaysia should prepare for new Syrian Refugees as many countries in Europe are expelling Syrians which they could be tortured in Syria as Bashar's regime is notorious

They aren't stateless. Their parent has a country, Philippines. According to Malaysian law, you don't get ID card until 12 years old. So, any problems with government premise, use birth certificate. But if your parents don't register birth, the problem lies with the parents.

They are stateless because of their parents.
Malaysia is surrounded by few countries where people are very keen to become Malaysian, that is why we have very strict immigration law. We have Rohingya people as refugees here. In that part of Malaysia, Sabah, it borders with Philippines. Many illegal immigrants come from southern Philippines, Malaysia government could not give them legal identity and that's why their children become stateless. This is a complicated issue, as southern Philippines has Abu Sayef Islamic terrorist groups and pirates, if Malaysia government easily give legal identity to these people, imagine how many terrorists could easily infiltrate into Malaysia although it already happened. We don't want our country to become another London and Paris.

This is the first video I have seen from you but it really touched me deep. How we can actively help the UN in this matter?

As a Malaysian myself. I never knew that there were stateless people in my country and maybe in my state. And I feel awful for the stateless people and children. I want them to feel the other side of the state. Like, for example, the girl from Sabah. Sabah is on another island/land. They have to fly to the other side. But they can't. Because they have no ID. Saya berharap yang kanak kanak dan orang orang yang stateless akan ada happy ending. Allah mesti akan memberi mereka life yang baik.

Most of the Romani people are stateless as wel and live a Nomadic life.
This really is a big issue today.
I just wonder some of them might be really brilliant and a really good citizen and human but are devoid of any rights.
That's sad.

LOVE LOVE ALYNE ❤️❤️❤️
