“Why won't the Egyptians let the Palestinians in?”
Ask the Lebanese. It went REALLY well for them when they did that.

Worth noting: Hamas is ideologically aligned with the Muslim brotherhood. The muslim brotherhood ruled egypt from 2012-2013, until the egyptian military deposed them and replaced their president, morsi, with the current president, el-sisi in a coup in 2013. This, more than anything else, is probably why the egyptians do not want to let palestinians into their country. It's another destabilizing element.

Don't forget that the Palestinians who went to Jordan after the Six Day War openly opposed the government that let them in and carried out two attemped assassinations on the King of Jordan and then started a civil war.

Worth to note that Gaza also borders Northern Sinai Governorate of Egypt, and such area that have been plagued by insurgency as well, with the attack at Rawda Mosque in 2017 being the deadliest, claiming over 300 casualties. Egypt don't want to take this risk of a potential Hamas militia entering as refugees as an additional factor of destabilization of Northern Sinai.

The leader of Jordan was asked in an interview if he would take in Palestinian refugees. He immediately replied, "No" and when the interviewer hesitated in surprise he added, "This is a red line". That's a pretty clear statement and Egypt said the same thing, NO.

Because if they leave, Israel will not return them to Gaza again

I don’t blame Egypt. Let’s look at what is happening in Colombia with Venezuelan refugees: 2 million Venezuelans in a country that has way more economic development than Egypt, way more space to accommodate newcomers and a solid resourcefulness for basic needs (Colombia doesn’t need to import food or basic items like Egypt does); yet, the Colombian society has felt a lot of pressure from this massive influx of people, and inevitably some gang members from Venezuela escaped to Colombia and are now ruling some criminal organizations in the country. Egypt can’t receive 2 millions Palestinians without breaking itself, not mentioning the danger of inevitably receiving some Hamas members and the chaos they will bring into the country.

It's not just Egypt. No Islamic country is taking them in.

I do not blame Egypt for NOT allowing Palestinians into their country. Egypt has learned by the experiences of Jordan expelling 25, 000 Palestinians for her borders due to the breakdown of law & order their country. The UAE expelled Palestinians on mass for the same reason. But Lebanon is suffering the consequences of not doing the same.
