Thank you for not mixing up yucca and yuca. There are videos on YouTube where people describe them as the same thing, when in fact they are not at all.

You can also eat the blooms and flower stalk. Many native tribes used the plant for many things. The leave were scraped and boiled to remove the flesh and the fibers inside were used as cordage. To make shoes, rope, mats..etc. There is some of the "soap" compounds in the leaves as well but the root was usually used for a cleaning aid and medicinally. The seeds were ground to form a flour. Just a truly amazing plant.

I have 2 yucca plants that finally bloomed this year (beautiful flowers) I want to harvest the roots but it will take forever to grow them again

Thanks for yet another interesting video, Dr. Jones! Glad it didn't spear you... . 🙄😏 Wish I could get it to grow here in western Wisconsin (zone 4), but the greenhouse I used to work at even had difficulty growing it. It grew beautifully in Illinois, and is a cool plant even if you just grow it for it's looks. 😏

Thanks for another informative video. If the root is the medicine, how is it used? Eat it raw or topical? I have eaten it sliced thin and fried, like chips, but Im sure the medicine value is gone that way.
