One thing to note that’s important is 07+ LGT/OBXT, 06+ FXT and 06+ WRX have D25 heads so if you put a RA shortblock in you are gonna bump up compression to around 8.7:1 and require a tune!

04-05 XT, 05-06 LGT/OBXT have B25 heads (same as STI) so no change in compression with RA block.

This came at such a great time. My 2018 sti only has 30k miles but, im starting an IAG 750 engine build now so by the time the stocker is ready to retire, I'll have something to drop right in. Thanks for the amazing wealth of subie knowledge.

Can't tell me how much this video just saved my ass, took apart the motor I'm building to red loctite the oil pump and figured out I had swapped parts from another motor that's using JDM parts and was running a JDM intake cam gear. Thank you so much

Great list! One note, because I didn't hear it mentioned. 08 Forester XT does not have the factory oil cooler, similar to the WRX of the same year. I learned this recently when ordering parts for an external cooler.

I have a 2017 subaru sti and the engine started knocking but it only knocks in between 1k-2k rpm at idle. no knock at idle and no knock at after 2k rpm what do you recommend to do I've been recommended a full engine rebuild, buy a short block and swap the heads, get it professionally done at a mechanic shop but I wanted some more insight on what to do. I changed the oil and I didn't see any metal in the oil.
