Also as a young woman myself i was told because i’m 24 im too young to know what i want for my own body! I want a hysterectomy cuz pregnancy was so hard for my body and my mind too 😢 it’s one of the worst things i’ve had to go through! I know for a fact i don’t want to birth children anymore. But i know i want to adopt. Apparently i have to birth at least 3 kids or be a bit older to have “my tubes tied”

40-year old here, got mine 2 years ago after my spouse and I decided we were done having kids. Everything is… sensitive for a day or two, but otherwise a simple procedure with NO major side effects. Highly recommend if you’re at that stage of life. (Edited to add: no major side effects)

I have the best husband. When he noticed i was having birth control related issues, he immediately volunteered for a vasectomy. His logic is that a vasectomy is way easier than dealing with a wife whose hormones are all out of whack. Good man.

I had a friend (former friend now) who threw a celebration that Roe was overturned. He said, and unfortunately this is a direct quote, “No one’s touching my joystick unless I’m getting the full action. And if she gets pregnant, I’ve got a whole closet full of wire coat hangers”.

Like I said, former friend now.

As a recipient of a vasectomy, it was a virtually painless procedure. I really didn't feel a thing. I was a bit sore for a couple of days and had to be a bit more careful when moving around the next week. If you can get one and it makes sense for you, I recommend it.

Both of my husbands got a vasectomy. The procedure cost less than 700 bucks because we paid cash. Half at the pre-op and the rest day of surgery. Best money I've ever spent. It was an office visit. Three days on the couch with an ice pack.

Well, notice the 'suggestive' use of A Sunmer Place movie music. And thankfully men are now taking more responsibility for pregnancy prevention.

I just got my fallopian tubes COMPLETELY REMOVED this week. And it was completely covered by insurance because it's a lot cheaper for my insurance to take care of this surgery rather than all the appointments for a pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the baby appointments. Vasectomies should be covered, too. The insurance company would save money.

Vasectomies are faster, cheaper and less invasive than tubal ligation. They don't have to cut through abdominal muscle so the recovery time is much shorter than the female equivalent.

I will get one, just not sure when. It's not all up to women to figure this out.

There are no laws for male reproduction control. Let that sink in a bit.

Its important to note that vasectomies are less reversible the longer it is after the initial surgery. After 5+ years, its very unlikely that the procedure can be reversed. People need to stop framing vasectomies as if they are stop and go birth control.

When my mother’s health was failing my father had a vasectomy.

How on earth are vasectomies not covered by some insurance??

I dont understand why this is controversial. Even in 70s my mother was asked after each birth if she wanted her tubes tied. They would have done before she left the hospital

Yes. All these guys complaining about getting trapped and paying child support...TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, GET A VASECTOMY and stop blaming other people for where you leave your seed!

I’ve had chronic sensitivity in my left teste since my botched vasectomy 3 years ago. The doc cut a blood vessel and it swelled to the size of a softball. I could barely sit up without excruciating pain for a couple of weeks. Get it done by someone who specializes in these, don’t just go to a DO that does them sometimes.

I had put it off for a year or two out of fear but booked mine the day Roe was overturned because I could see how much that decision impacted and stressed my wife because we live in a conservative state. Best decision I’ve made in a long time and honestly the fear was unwarranted. The procedure really wasn’t bad, pain during and after operation was very minimal. Sit around with some frozen peas got a day and that was basically it. If anyone is thinking about it and on the fence, I highly recommend.

Thanks for the contribution you are making to education around birth control.

Fun fact: plural is vasa deferentia. It's one of my favorites, second only to epididymides.
