As someone who is asexual, biromantic, and has low self-esteem, I get in crushes all the time with friends because my friends are the one's that I am close to and they are nice to me and I already don't look at them sexually. It's so hard, personally, for me to tell when a friend is being nice or if they are being flirty. I've had a recent issue where a male friend was being super sweet and nice to me, and so I got a little crush and I thought I was reading all the signs right and then it turns out I was! But we are too far for him, because while I am fine with distance he is not. I think that is because to me a relationship is just an even closer friendship. I'm also afraid that people might only have a sexual attraction, and while I am not sexually repulsed, when I look for relationships it really is more romantic. >_<

beginning of last year I developed a crush on this girl but had no idea if she was into girls but thought she might be so I decided to become closer with her and we became alright friends and I hadnt learnt anything about her orientation so I went ahead and said look I have a big crush on you and thought you should know but I understand if you dont feel the same and dont want to be friends anymore. she didnt feel the same but we stayed friends and even grew really close. eventually after lots of romantic abd sexual tension she admitted to me that she liked me. so in telling her I liked her it made her think of me as more than a friend! we've now been together for a year and are very much in love

ahh in all honesty, when I thought I had this as a problem it ended up that I still ended up doing stuff with them... And other way around when a friend fancies me, I don't mind them telling me if they don't make me feel bad if I don't feel the same way, which I usually don't... but I've always maintained a friendship with them after knowing. The worst is when they feel they're entitled to sleep with you, especially if you know. They don't seem to realize how sleeping with someone takes another kind of mindset and to be honest, the best way to prove this is pointing out someone who is unattractive to them asking "would you sleep with this person if they asked you?... no? Why not?" if they say "they're not my friend" I can easily choose a friend they don't sleep with and ask the same question... and point out a complete stranger who they find are attractive... yeah... some people don't seem to get it.
