Thanks for this review, i loved the look this screen, but wasn’t sure about the lack of 2.1. You’ve convinced me to wait 😊

5:23 We want it now because we are PC gamers. Hands down the most incredible monitor Ive ever owned. The speakers may as well go in the bin if your an audiophile, but the display destroys the competition at this price point. 55" on your desk with 120 Htz, HDR, low input lag. I cant go back! Display Engineering team A++. Sound team go work for Bose as the need more underqualified over paid staff.

New model (559M1RY) definitely has HDMI 2.1 as promised. Great review. Thanks.

Dominic you never fail to make difference. Always love your reviews and eagerly wait what you got up your sleeves next!!! Keep up the great work!

If only they made a version of this monitor without the sound bar and instead use the freed up money to concentrate on maximizing the quality of the display panel instead by using miniLEDs for the backlight to further enhance HDR performance. That would have be ideal IMHO. Better yet, make a 43 inch version.

Does it have variable refresh rate (VRR)?

good review. best section is motion handling information.

While the unit is aesthetically pleasing, and boasts some impressive specs, its price really accents the caveats of a VA panel. There are currently more than a few 4k/(native)120hz OLED panels capable of delivering sub 10ms input lag for considerably less money. Such units would also deliver superior performance as pure media displays, obviously. I'm not so sure adaptive sync is worth the hefty premium for the majority of consumers.

I can’t decide if I want this or the compromised HDMI 2.1 ips monitors. This is looking like a winner.

Great video, definitely worth watching before buying the monitor! Do you know where Philips mentioned it would be updating the monitor to HDMI 2.1? I can't find any information stating they plan to upgrade it online.

impressive, are there any alternatives (competition) out there on the market just for comparison? LG, Samsung, etc.?

Philips used to make a lot of televisions but eventually they sold that division to LG. Philips has a rater big history in the tech industry in Europe, they invented the compact cassette tape (that thing which people used in the 80's and early 90's), CD-player, co-invented DVD (same principle of course, different laser and higher density), contributed a lot to light technology and the electrical razor...They had some of the biggest scientists (people like Einstein) come give seminaries at their company. They founded regular shops too so that the employees could buy essentials, they had a lot of houses built and founded sport clubs which became professional. They also dumped a lot of metals in the water like most industrial companies did until around the 70's. It is a company with a lot of history. In the 80's they started to shut off certain parts, do less R&D and buy up other companies (really big in medical equipment at the moment).

I can vouch for Philips AU warranty as well, had a 43 inch monitor fail, sent it away and they replaced it with new within two weeks.

Didn't stop me from smashing it a month later though, FML!

The hdmi 2, 0 ports aren't a problem at all, barely any game can hit 4k 120hz anyway, Black ops cold war runs at 1080-1200p at 120hz according to digital foundry at the TV/monitor supports 120hz 1440p with the hdmi ports

Now that was a great review ! Am looking at this monitor for the new MS Flightsim after returning a widescreen curved monitor. I couldn't get used to the curve. Whats your thoughts

Is this better than the LG CX & Sony XH90?

I am going crazy with this. I can't get this monitor over 98 hz on 4k for some reason. Everything else works, but 120hz at 4k is just not listed anywhere. Not in the nvidia drivers, not when choosing directly on the card from the pnp, not really anywhere. And yes, I am using displayport, even though that shouldn't even matter. Since even 2.0 can handle 4k 120hz if you choose it from the pnp settings. Yet it just isn't listed anywhere.

Do you think the Philips Momentum 328M1R will use the same panel? Like repurpose the ones that are defective at the edges or something? Cut the defective parts off and ship a 31.5 inch version?
