Build a base as you progress, for start go to the south and build the first base there, after level 20 move the base to the east, after level 30 go west and after that make a permanent base in the north (level 40 and above)... because it all depends on the ores you have near the base.

Bro I found a spot that is covered all over the place with mushrooms. I literally come out and just run picking shrooms to eat and nothing else. As for water, I just keep boiling the crap since it's not me going out looking for it. But the shrooms keep my sanity up that I don't even have to sleep while I am at home.

I created a base and it was near deer spawns ores wood and sea water. Now I got a stockpile of dried meat and fish that doesnt go bad. Also built my own fishing spot that me and my neighbors can enjoy

I lived where you're thinking of moving too, wasn't bad wasn't good. I have my base set up west of you're current base, there's a point with a crocodile. great fishing, and aluminum, which is the next thing you'll need like iron and copper.

Don’t build too close to the water if the deviants spawn to attack your base and they spawn underwater deep enough you can’t shoot them but they can throw stuff at your base and damage it. The only way I was able to kill them was with grenades. Hopefully they adjust their spawns because I’ve had them even spawn on my base and in my base.

That island is good spot if you can have 2 houses that has turrets rabbits and chop. Lol.. my spot is just across that . Coz the spot is in between small settlements i can farm mats of. It is floating base as well for resonate purification purposes. Lots of t2 mats.. now im in t3 and t4 i still havent found a safe spot in iron river region.

What about the cave at Redlands it's seems to be very popular. I have snagged the spot above ground but I can't seem to figure out how to build in the cave. Any tips?

I moved my base and it bugged.. I now have a floating base. Only problem is I can't change out my foundations anymore.
