The art may not have worked out, but watching the ink bloom was still satisfying to watch. 🤩

I really love this video so much. You were awesome and also reminded me of such a valuable lesson! My 9 year old daughter came to me last night sobbing because she had made a mistake with one of her art projects. She's very talented, but also a perfectionist. I'm going to show her this video tonight to remind her to give herself some grace and enjoy the process. Please always share your successes and your not as good experiences! You are an inspiration to me as an aspiring artist!

I love watching "learning new medium videos" no matter the outcome, your insights are always helpful and are a great resource for the beginner. Please give yourself some grace that new mediums can be difficult and the outcome may not always be what you want or expect.. it may take more than four tries to get a result you are satisfied with but if it is not for you then you at least learned that! It is not a fail in this case for what you have learned and can teach us! So please don't consider it one...Thank you for sharing with us!🥰I think I'd actually be interested in trying clay boards after this ☺ and now I know what to watch out for... 😉

It is so cool that you showed the process without a "masterpiece" at the end.
That is how it often works when you try something new. I had my share of "ruined" pieces while overworking with ink 😅

There were loads of times I thought they were looking great, you're very hard on yourself. I totally understand the disappointment when something doesn't turn out the 'right' way. Thank you for sharing your inky journey 😊

Thank you for showing us this journey.
When someone like Jazza tries a new medium, he ends up with a good-looking piece of art, but that's not what usually happens. You try a new medium, fail or mess up. Than you decide whether you like it or not, and if you like it, you try again. Several times until you're happy with your piece and progress. It's nice to see a reminder of this from time to time.

I could have watched those inks mixing with eachother all day... You may not be happy with the end result but the process was stunning... Kinda like when you drop ink into a glass of water...

One of the things I've learned in my nearly seven decades in this wide brown land we call home, is that falling on your face makes other people feel better about themselves. (Think slapstick, for example.) My perfectionism doesn't ever endear me to others....or make them feel good about me or themselves. It's a habit I learned from very particular (or maybe that's peculiar) parents whose mantra seemed to be, it's either perfect or it's wrong. So while I nearly always view my projects as not being good enough, so strive to be better, this is often misread by others. Also, sometimes something you call a "fail" will be loved by someone else. Don't be too hard on yourself, lovely lady.... you live, you

I really enjoyed watching this video. I think the colours looked amazing how they flowed together and has given me an idea for an art work I am working on. So thank you for inspiring me. I think all the art work and crafts, you have been doing are amazing. You and fellow YouTuber scribble fix are my favourite Aussie YouTubers. Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi 😊

Dee, thank you for a brilliant, honest, entertaining and helpful It's incredibly helpful to know that others 'fail', too. I wish others would follow your lead, and help to heal the many ArtTube watchers who are left feeling useless by the perfect results we get shown so often - far too often - without the balance of the artist's fails to keep the balance for us.

There are exceptions to this, and I watch a few, but reading comments on other videos just worries me more and more about what we are being shown, and the effect it has on us, so I celebrate the brave and honest artists who share their problems, etc (and often how to solve them) with us.

Thank you!!! 🤗

It's always good to try something new, even if it doesn't go the way you wanted it to XD - Failure is a part of growing, which I love & love seeing the progress every artist makes (including myself) 💙

I like how you show that it's okay to not be the best right out of the gate! When I started working with alcohol inks it was a mess, but now, I'd love to show you what I'm able to do! It's a lot of trial and error and practice! I've found that cheap poster board works just as well as Yupo paper and it's a FRACTION of the cost. Of course you wanna use the slick side of the poster board. Keep it up, you know we're going to be here for you! If alcohol inks are something you want to explore more, I urge you to give it another shot!

This looked like so much fun! You've actually made me want to give these a crack, Ive seen gesso boards in officeworks and i think Kmart at one time, but didn't really know what to do with them lol
Thanks for another great video x

Since your successes are so gorgeous, I feel almost inspired by your "fail" to bust out the Bord and alcohol ink I bought on sale not too long ago. What follows are my observations of other artists, which you can read or ignore as you see fit. I do like your diving-in process and your attitude about accepting your art, and I'm not criticizing in any way. My experiences are probably different from yours, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

(1) Anything I know about alcohol ink I know from watching fluid artists (a.k.a. paint pouring). I almost directed you, but then you'd be limited to the artists *I* think are good, and we could well have different opinions.
By the way: after nearly three years, I know tons about fluid art and almost nothing about making my hands work the right way. I refer to myself as a bad artist and proud of it. I keep trying, because art therapy is good for me. I am by no means successful.

(2) With the airbrush, I was reminded of when I used to get my nails done at salons who went that route instead of hand-painting. They wielded the airbrush beautifully to get gradients, but they used stencils to stay within borders. Is that cheating? I have no idea.
I just wondered if a stencil was something you considered. Jazza does larger projects than nail beds, and I've noticed that he has cardboard to shield, if not actually stencil, certain areas.

I actually enjoyed this video. I myself have never used clay boards. I don't think I have the patience for them. I don't think enough artists out there share enough of the "what NOT to do" portions of videos. Practice makes perfect-ish in this creative world of ours, I think that sharing mistakes or "fails" is crazy important. Thank you for sharing this with us.
