Non-criticism of assumptions (e.g. axioms in mathematics) allows for the uninterrupted exploration of all the consequences of those assumptions, but I wouldn't label this discovery "process" as "progress", it is more like a fluid expanding to fill a new container. Progress was the opening of the orifice into the container, like a new axiom or assumption which invites the exploration, e.g. theory of relativity, maxwell's equations, Faraday's lines of force, the oxygen theory of combustion.

It is a dynamic control system, continuously controlling its refractive state, to its average of Accommodation.
That is a, " Paradigm Shift".

Right now on Young Sheldon, Sheldon is being trampled by his University professor on philosophy. I wish I could get this Thomas Kuhn book to Young Sheldon.
