Man, the RX 580 is a beast even today in 2024, it's incredible that it's still fighting, I had the 8GB version during the pandemic and it was the one that let me play CyberPunk without problems, eternal love for the 580 model!

Intergrated graphics should never be called "gaming graphics card" when it runs at 15 frames

Edit: The person doing the voiceover is different from the person who made the video

Always nice to see old computers being rescued and given new life.

As someone who flips the occasional PC, I am flabbergasted every time I see a dusty motherboard. It takes but a minute to dust off surface dust. This is a courtesy to the customer

The 2600 and 3770 are not really the same. The 3770 supports 1600mhz ram and has more bandwidth, it supports pci express 3.0 and it uses 18w less power which would help the PSU if you add a graphics card

The 3770 has a 9% ipc advantage over the 2600 and is 100mhz faster SO you'd be looking at around a 10% performance gain. The 3770 has Intel HD 4000 graphics which is a BIG upgrade over the 2600's Intel HD 2000's graphics. (Both the 2600k and 2700 have Intel HD 3000 graphics.)

I have six old HP Computers. The Z series although a bit more expensive are so easy to upgrade. Oh and yeah every old HP has just been freshly pasted.... lol. That isn't a bad starting point tbh. I think you made that old HP proud.

Not bad. You can actually buy 24 Pin ATX adapters for most pre-build Mobos these days. the RX580 is still a good choice for extreme budget gaming these days, the 8GB one regularly can be found for less than $50.

1:31 Just in case you forgot what HP stands for...
GPU is about as powerful as an 8800GTX and a $13 Dell OEM R7 250 would be a massive upgrade.
Not sure where you got the idea the performance difference between the 2600 and the 3770 is only 5%. It is actually 20% for multi and 19% for single threaded performance.
Suggest you familiarize yourself with the Passmark test and website because it took me about 30 seconds to look up averages and punch 'em into my calculator.
Was nice to hear someone giving some really useful info about PSUs. There are a lot of misconceptions about them in the community. Like thinking you need an 850W PSU to run a 4060Ti.

Tip: When buying older prebuilts, always use a newer motherboard, psu. You can easily swap the case cables with some inexpensive adapters designed for using new motherboards in old proprietary cases like Dell and HP, they are on Amazon and fairly cheap. Just know when buying these old style units to always add $100-$150 for this very reason. Sure it may work but the limited functions of those system specific motherboards just make everything a pain, update those boards and use newer style PSU's as well to ensure not only function but proper upgrade paths.

New/used MB+PSU in a standard atx style Should only be $80-$150 tops. And most of that cost is the newer PSU. Keep or sell the HP board and PSU or save for a retro original parts setup. Great video!

I have this exact PC as an AI inference machine (under my desk, SFF model). I've modified the chassis and will be saving up money for a proper accelerator soon. These things are beasts and can literally take a beating

You gotta love this, I got an old Dell system for free from work, it came with 16gb ram and an i5 3470. I bought a new PSU, case, ssd i7 3770 and a 12 gb 3060. I cant wait to upgrade the older parts but its doing me fine for now.
