Only thing I would add to your guide is to test the components after receiving them prior to cleaning. That way you can be sure you didn't break something during the cleaning process.

Definitely a lot of value in this build. Almost exactly what I would try to do to build a PC on a budget. Great video.

Probably the best video I've seen regarding budget builds relating to the UK.

Like to watch videos like that from time to time.

I myself did twice a "Dell Optiplex conversion to gaming PC"
my firs time was with OptiPlex 7020SFF - Haswell based system.

gave it 4x4GB 1600mhz ram, for the cpu i kicked out an old i3-4130 and placed there a Xeon E3-1230v3 (almost like a undervolted i7-4770) and for an GPU u gave it an GTX 1650 GDDR6 from Zotac.
And for a small touch, replaced both cpu and front fan, into 80mm units from Arctic

what a amazing pc it was :D

If looking for an older gpu (in the uk at least) cex basically price matches with eBay sold/completed and can be a gold mine for older gpu's if on a budget or even a retro build just an added tip, keep it up man great to see you sticking to schedule

Excellent choices is hardware. The GCN video cards aged like fine wine, despite the lack of further driver support. Very good combination.

That pc on your desk is the exact one i just upgraded. Installed a Radeon RX7600 with a beefy power supply and 32 gigs of ram. Kept the motherboard and cpu and im very happy.

In general this is a pretty good basic guide. However, I can't believe how he glossed over the fact that most office PCs today have proprietary connections for the power supply which means you can't just throw a standard ATX PSU in there and hope it will work. Quite a big oversight in this video really.

My Dell Optiplex 9020 MT has GTX 1650 next to nothing bottleneck. and 32GB DDR3 1600 with 2TB SSD Samsung EVO, with 650Watt 80+Bronze PSU and i7 4790 pushing around 60 to 114 fps at 1080p

Hi, thanks for the vid man! About the generic PC case, I found a Sharkoon that looks a lot like the green one you showed, but my question is can the RGB fan lights be turned off on these old cases to let us sleep at night?

As a happy GTX 960 4 GB owner, I am glad that it's listed among the RMD approved budget list.

I've got a 2tb hard drive at home and 32gb of ram and i plan on getting a fujitsu esprimo p720, does this sound like a good start for a gaming build?

most thinkstations have insanely good psus with 600+ wattage and are usually 80+ platinum depending on what model you get

What if I have an ATX pc case? Can I transfer the components to the new case, or is that not suggested? Because I have a case for when I buy the other components, but never got around to getting them, so can I get a slim tower and strip the parts over to the ATX case?

I've got an Optiplex 3010 I've been using for 2 years. Upgraded to a 480GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Xeon 1230 v2 CPU, 16GB RAM, and an RX 580 8GB. They make adapter for the motherboard so I plan to case swap it soon. A lot of the boards have proprietary connectors so you can't use the front panel if you had a different case. But they have aftermarket adapters for this one and a few others.

I’m trying to put a pc like that into a gaming case and upgrade it from there. Do you think you can help?

I know some desktops have proprietary connections that make upgrading them difficult. How do I avoid this?
