This video shows you how to install a new starter from TRQ on your 2013-2017 Honda Accord. The starter is a powerful electric motor that gets your engine to turn over when you turn the key in the ignition switch. If a motor has worn out or become damaged, your vehicle won’t start.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2013 Honda Accord
2014 Honda Accord
2015 Honda Accord
2016 Honda Accord
2017 Honda Accord

Tools you will need:
• Safety Glasses

Nice video.

Most people watching this won’t have a lift. Some of the “easy” aspects of this process are easy only when the car is on a lift and you’re able to put both hands on the parts and tools.

A few suggestions:

1. If you try to get at this from either side, you’ll have to be good at working with only one hand. The angles aren’t practical for human arms. Instead, put the car on really solid jackstands, and come up under the front bumper.

2. During reinstallation, attach the battery cable (the one that tightens with a nut) *before* you put the starter in place. This will make it much easier to get the nut started, and will ensure that the rubber boot goes back on correctly.

3. Instead of hand threading the lower mounting bolt, slide a 4” long 1/4” ratchet extension into the lower mounting hole, and use that as an alignment pin. Then, hand thread the upper bolt (the really long one) at least 3 full turns. Remove the extension, and hand thread the lower bolt at least 2-3 full turns. Now you can use a ratchet on the upper bolt without fear of cross-threading, and finally tighten the lower bolt.

Beautifully done video. Folks, if you can't follow this to remove and reinstall your starter, you need a competent professional.
One of the main benefits of a video like this is showing how those connectors come apart. Every manufacturer thinks it needs to use a different form of connector for every electrical device, and even when the right tab is pushed or pulled, separating wires can be a giant pain.

Great video. Thank you for your time. Just a tip for those watching: If you have 2 long extensions, you can snap them together and get to the 2 bolts and the 12mm battery nut from the passenger side wheel well. Its a strait shot with a lot more room for the ratchet.

You must be a really good mechanic. You make it look so simple. Great video, I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks.

Thank you! This helped a lot! I had a ton of issues removing the green clip at the beginning, it just wouldn’t come out! Had to break the little pieces at the end to get it out…

Also another thing that gave me issues was putting the 12mm nut back at the end. I couldn’t fit two of my hands under the car (basically working with one hand the whole time) so I had to use duck tape (The easy tear one) to duck tape the boot back as i try to screw on the 12mm bolt. 4 hours later, and it’s all good lol.

I have a 2013 Honda Crosstour that needs a starter. I imagine its the same set up. I was about to make some calls to find a mechanic but your video showed how easy it is. I'll definitely be knocking this out this weekend. Much appreciation for this video
