This isn't helpful. I'm guessing most people know where the history button is. The problem is when Google saves a different window and there is no history available for the other tabs you had open. Nothing. And the individual history option just shows everything you opened and closed, not the tabs you had sitting waiting for attention for a period of time.

I had too many tabs opened. AND CHROME crashed and all of them are gone - there were over 100. Now I have no chance to restore them

I'm not sure what these below people are doing or NOt DOING, but this worked in the most FABULOUS WAY!!! Chrome use to do this automatically, but then all of a sudden it stopped working!!!! YOUR SOLUTION IS WONDERFUL, PERFECT, EASY AND IT EVEN WORKED WITH CHROME ON MY ANDROID Again, not sure why people below say it doesn't work, but we tried it on a MAC and PC Windows 10/7 and it works great!! THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH!! It definitely helped a great frustration be relieved!! Cheers!!

What if the recently open tabs is not showing?

For the old comments I want to add. When I went to history from the 3 buttons I saw my current history from today. So I scrolled down and saw "47 Tabs" clicked on it and everything came back. I would not have thought to look there because I am not formally trained on this new laptop. THANK YOU to Robs Tech Tip!!!

my computer crashed(battery problem) - I opened chrome, where you know it has the restore button option as well - but before I could click it my computer crashed again. And after that - there was no restore button and no restore from the history menu - what should I do now? Is there still a way to get back something 2 sessions back?

Sometimes, restore all tabs doesn´t appear and if more than 10 or whatever the max amount of tabs that crome saves in history that for whatever reason weren´t saved as a group then to this method which I imagine most already know doesn´t help. For example I just accidentally right clicked while also miss clicking (didn´t even know right clicking could select things in drop down menues as I have never tried it) and ended up hitting the close all other tabs. I had a fair few tabs and more than half aren´t on the list which I already knew about. I´m sure this video will help some people but most will already know this or the tabs may not even appear on the list. All the tabs I wanted are the ones I couln´t get back while the ones I wanted to close or could easily find as they where bookmarked/in a youtube playlist were in history. I just wish crome had a better solution for things like this.

what if we had work that needed to be done, and the tab closed and we lost all of our work. when i restore the tabs, it doesn't restore my work.

The problem is that Chrome won't remember your tabs from 2 sessions ago or more, and then displays them as individual history from there on out. I wouldn't make the mistake of closing them twice without restoring them again, but another person used the computer and closed all my tabs without notifying me and made that goddamn mistake.

Dude, I had 1, 600 tabs open and this imbecile chrome closed them all and didn't show them when I turned on my computer again. I had a small heart attack for losing all that but your method helped me a lot!!! I have all my tabs back! Thank you very much!!! :D

this only works if after the tabs get closed you open chrome again without anything else and directly go to the recent tabs section.


otherwise if you search for something else, THAT becomes your history and when you go in recent tabs, THAT is what you see.


My guess is the older tabs get overwritten.

it worked for me and i am so grateful for this video, coz i lost about 100 opened tabs that i had been keeping opened for about 2 weeks working with them and were very important to me
