I first heard this version by Kissin back in 1994 in RCA promo disc.Its' melancholy cadence interspersed with forceful, Siberian somber left hand accompaniment convinced me this is best rendition I've ever heard throughout the years. Actually, I played it on the day of my mom's funeral repeatedly.

Alan Richardson has does the Zolatan Kocsis arrangement one better by avoiding a simple repeat of the first part and rearranging it 1:36 so that the left hand carries the repeated melody in the very dark lower register of the piano. Very effective. I'm afraid Kissin has stolen me away from Kocsis' arrangement of this.
