Labour got priorities 'completely wrong', says shadow home secretary James Cleverly

Shadow home secretary and Tory leadership hopeful James Cleverly has accused the Labour government of attempting to resolve prison overcrowding in "completely" the wrong way.

Around 1,700 prisoners have been released early to ease overcrowding inside prisons, and Mr Cleverly told Sky News the "prioritisation" is "completely wrong".

"We've seen the images of people saying thank you to the Labour government, just as we saw images of illegal migrants in France waiting for a Labour government before they came across on small boats," said the senior Conservative.

Tories had 14 years to end pensioner povery but instead made it worse. They also supported the levels of means testing they're now saying are unfair. Pensioners overwhelmingly voted Tory and they got what they voted for.

I like Cleverly but his comments about the prisons are pure bs, if the prisons are full what option did the government have??? A great example of how the Conservatives just don't get how much they annoyed people. If Cleverly can't see how absurd his comments are on prisons he should quit politics, which would be a loss in my view.
