For over a year now I have had numerous request to visit this hotel The Grand Hotel, the hotel ratings are not very good, so this was a challenge is it really that bad, what and find out.

I've worked in numerous hotels, in Housekeeping, staff are only given certain amount of time to get each room serviced, and work to a deadline to get so many done during the shift. It's hard work and this room looks clean in a very busy hotel. So big thumbs up to the staff!👍

Hi Paul,
The Grand use to be a Butlin hotel, remember coming when my daughter was about 7 this is 38years later for me. Hasn't really changed. It's a hotel with those big stairs at the front. Would've love to have seen the hotel when it first opened, that would've been amazing. It is a little tired but it is clean, and having lovely staff makes all the difference. Makes your stay more enjoyable. Thanks Paul.

A very balanced review, I absolutely love Scarborough and get so annoyed these 2 bob millionaires who visit the grand to basically complain about it, if you were paying 200 quid a night for a twin room then fair play, but 59 pound is an absolute bargain, what these idiots tend to forget is that most people can’t afford flash prices for a possibly there one holiday a year.

I stayed there about 10 years ago and had a lovely time - it was near Christmas and there was a beautiful Christmas Tree by the very grand staircase, it had a very calm, peaceful vibe about it. Still looks perfectly reasonable to me and not a bad price. So pleased to hear your very fair and honest review - but those birds would drive me insane!

Hi Paul, that was a very fair review of a hotel I’ve always wanted to stay in but sadly got put off by the reviews.
There seemed to be every year, reports in the press of Norovirus sickness there, many years this was happening so that put me off.
Also when I walked down the steps, only a year ago, at the side where the rail lift is, there were dead seagulls or the ones you described, hanging from nets, which was awful to see as the birds must have suffered.
I ended up last year staying at the Travelodge opposite and was given an attic room, cold and draughts coming from the window and a electric convector heater to warm the room which it didn’t.
The windows had black mould and condensation.
I videoed it and put it on my channel and even had a Peeping Tom seagull tapping the window for food at breakfast.
Take a look at my two video’s as I’m sure you’ll find them hilarious lol.
Great review, I think I’ll give The Grand a try now.

What a beautiful old hotel with it's grand views of the lobby and such. Very nice price too as far as for a single room with breakfast. Loved this video!

First time I’ve watched you video. Your a man of the same opinion as me, everyone can find fault with anything, if your that type of person, could probably do it in a 5 star hotel, if really picky. People all like to complain, but don’t comment if good. What do you expect or £59 for 2 people, what was the price for a single room. Do theses people who complain live in the Ritz. There home may not be perfect, but they accept. Good honest review. Impressive building, must cost a fortune to maintain.

Great, honest and realistic revieve Paul. This old hotel must have been spectacular when it first opened. No doubt way above the means of the normal working class person. It's wonderful to see that this spectacular building is still being maintained.

Yeah I stayed the granted a coach tour at xmas and yes we did have some issues with the restaurant. The restaurant manager did lose his temper because there was total confusion over stagger meals for coachs in the end when they just let people come down as they felt like it, there was no queue to getting it out. The restaurant which was good and that was because of the general manager said that everybody could go in when they wanted to. Other than that, the room was fantastic that I had. The staff were all good. They had conversations with you that include everybody from the bar staff. There was no issue there already. Probably was our bathroom because in our bathroom we had a bath with a shower over it but the bath was on the platform and it was very difficult even for my tall friend to get in and out of the bath because of it being on the other room was a bit dated but it had what we wanted for it thank you again for your giving the grand hotel the review that it deserved as always, fantastic video!

Hi Paul once again, another great vlog, , I only live an hours drive away from Scarborough, and I must admit, when I last stayed, I was in the basement, big mistake, no natural light, and the water 🚿 out the taps was a rusty colour, I had to sign ✍️ out and hand the keys in, no refund, to be honest it looks a lot better than when I last visited, and the bloody seagulls, I got crapped on twice in Bridlington a month ago x keep up the good work David

It was a Butlins hotel when I stayed there in about 1981 . We had no problems as far as i can remember. Happy memories of holidays with my mum and dad .
