Year ago, last March, I ended up in emergency room due to heart. Determined to have heart issues and T2D at age 59. Weighed 293#. Started a reduced calorie typical diet, added terzepitide, lost some weight, then stalled. I found your channel then your books and revisited my health choices. Returned back to low dose terzepitide, 5mg, switched to your recommendations and my health is gaining strength. As of yesterday weight is 199#. Slowly dropping weight plus feeling better than I have in decades. Your impact is huge. Thank you!

I did an elimination diet and went carnivore for 30 days. Found out peanuts and any color of peppers don’t like me. I was so bummed because I love nut butters. Also I actually had to up my fat to regulate my hormones. I was feeling so down and depressed until I upped my fat intake. The great thing is I’m listening to what my body is saying and when it says lower the fat I will.

Dr. Mindy, I am 68 years old and about a month ago I asked the question, why am i so healthy and how can i help others duplicate my process. I am very active. Tai Chi, Archer, Mounted Archery, Gym 3x a week, because of my 2 german shepherds, 10-15k Steps day walks. No pains. No meds. The answers started coming about a week ago when I found an interview you did with Tom Bilyeu. My aha moment was when I realized...fasting is my normal. Since my twenties, "I don't get hungry" was a comment i use to make...I would forget to eat! I am this way cuz I have given my body the environment for self healing. Oh what a concept! I am not a sugar person, don't get me wrong, I can and do eat candies deserts etc. But i stop when i get my fill. On a daily basis i don't break my fast till after 16-18 hours. My window for eating is 7-8 hours. Only broken during holidays and family get togethers.
Perks I think is that my hair is still Black for the most part. I am and still look youthful. Commenting to say THANK YOU for sharing. What an eye opener. Yes...as a coach myself, "we should be our own lab."

I eat quite a bit of fat -- lots of avocado, butter, olive oil, lard and tallow. I have never felt better in my life and love being in ketosis. It does so much for my mental health. I went to dinner recently and had salmon salad and the mayo took me down -- I think it was soybean oil. I had brain fog, was lethargic and my joints started aching. It went away reasonably fast when I got back on track. For me, the right fats seem to help my body run like a well oiled machine.

Dr. Mindy, I have been eating this way for the last 2.5 months, and I can testify that it works! Jan. 1 I quit eating refined carbs and sugar and started tracking my food. I focus on getting 100-130g of protein, 25g + fiber, and try to keep net carbs under 50g per day. Even though most experts say to go keto, I consider fat to be incidental and never max it out, but I get plenty of healthy fat with each meal. My focus for weight loss is a mixture of eating this way and gaining muscle. So far I've lost ten pounds and nearly 3 inches from my waist. I feel terrific and have no food cravings, but I still enjoy my food. Best of all, I'm not hungry all the time! It works!

Dr.Mindy, I found your channel a little before the start of the pandemic . As a mother of 5 (with 2 preteen daughters), you have helped me communicate the importance and balance of nutrition. My initial weight loss was 25 lbs, and I've kept it off the past 4 years. May God continue to bless you and your family❤

❤I find a plate of iceberg lettuce and saeurkraut and walnuts with my steak solves all problems. Lettuce is vastly underrated as fibre.

I think everyone who has done keto has run into this “fat” problem where we end up consuming too much fat!! It’s hard to get it right!! 🎉😂❤

Mindy! I lost my period after starting fasting and keto. Like I was stuck on the edge of a period for weeks and it wouldn't come making me a wretch....just had some sweet potato yesterday as per what I've heard you say and low and behold Aunt flow just arrived. Thank you so much for being here. Saved my keto journey!

Thanks Mindy! I find there is so much conflicting information out there ~ such as eat more fat and less protein, eat more protein and less fat, etc. It’s so hard to know what the right amounts are. Can you do a video of what a good amount of fat may look like in a meal?

Thank you Dr Mindy. I'm on amenorrhea recovery from low body fat, on plant-based diet, so sometimes even with high volume foods i haven't felt mentally satiated. like this afternoon (i stopped eating at 6pm), i had different root veggies and beans with spinach + broccoli. Although it looked much, i didnt feel satiated and i know in this recovery journey it's super important to eat more foods. so i "sealed" the dinner time with a teaspoon of peanut butter and half avocado, the healthy fats. and i felt satiated even until bed time.

This is so true! Thank you Dr Mindy! I was struggling for a little bit to lose weight and so I started varying my fasts and trying to lower fats - unhealthy fats and now even when I eat garbage one day I’m still losing weight! It’s crazy don’t worry I’m not making it a habit again to eat unhealthy but just thought it’s interesting! 👏🏽 I’m in fat burner mode👏🏽

You don't need to poop every day! 😂 although I do know people who do. Lol..

Don't get freaked out if you're not. My doc Says every other day is fine. Again depending on your diet will effect how often you go and excerise.

Dr Elizabeth Bright recommends 70=80% fat for those with thyroid issues. She is definitely carnivore and has some great recommendations.
I started keto and fasting to take my health back and love fats now after 30 years of low fat/ high carb. I am metabolically flexible and trying to go carnivore.
Do what works for you!!

Dr. Mindy--I have been watching your videos for over a year, joined the academy, practiced fasting and so many of your small tips and recommendations for exercise. I love your channel. Mostly what i love is the way you make this journey about me figuring out what works for me. I am still working on that formula. I get discouraged occasionally and then a video like this one is posted and it reminds me of some key principles for being the best and healthy me I can be. I feel like you understand all of the frustrations and that helps me to not just want to bury my frustrations with weight in a bowl of fettuccine alfredo! Looking forward to your new book! FLAG and MR are at the handy and are referenced daily. You ROCK!

Eating a carnivore diet is basically an extreme form of keto but no carbs and you wont have any of these issues, at first you need to transition, but once you do, your never hungry, you'll have energy all day long.
You'll never have blood sugar crashes ever again, when you do go #2 its like 1-2 times a week because the meat is very bioavailiable.
In the beginning when your eating high fat, high protein you will have loose stools, more like diarrhea, that just means that the liver cant produce enough bile to process the fat.
As you are longer on eating this way your liver will produce enough bile, and your gallbladder will release the bile when you eat the fat, and all will be good. When you eat fat, preferably saturated fats, there is alot of nutrition in it, aside the blood sugar stabilization Dr.Mindy talks about, but when you eat you want to eat til your comfortably stuffed, or full.
You wont feel full like you ate to much, you'll have perfect digestion i swear by it, no discomfort, and you can literally eat 1-2 times a day and be good, it all depends on your energy level.
Fat is needed because eating alot of protein creates a nitrogen build up, and for that nitrogen to not be toxic for the kidneys fat is required, as fat is used to process it, aside many other benefits, one main benefit is energy.
Once you get fat adapted and are using the real fuel your body prefers, and your brain prefers ketones then your mood, and outlook will change.
Weightloss isn't about losing weight, losing fat, its about metabolically changing your state of health to where there is homeostasis, when you gain your health by eating real whole, nutritious food (red meats and animal based foods ie. eggs, raw milk, sardines, Lamb, Grass fed beef) ect, .
You'll lose the weight. Weight gain in today's culture is eating high calorie dense food with very little if any nutrition in it, an obese person, an overweight person is malnourished, why when you eat red meat that there is a 98% absorption rate because theres nothing in it in terms of antinutrients, its nutritionally dense food which will have you eating less.
If you need a history lesson on how our society is against fat, has everything low fat, cholesterol is bad and you shouldn't eat meat nonsense,
then get the book:
"The Big Fat Surprise" by Nina Teichholz theres also videos on Youtube here about her talks, but she spent 10yrs of her life investigating how all this started how it lead up today.
Another good book to read is by Judy Cho called the "Carnivore Cure" she goes into many subjects about food, meats, ethics, industry, components of food, biochemistry, vitamins, minerals, its probably one of the best books i've read dealing with anything about nutrition also has many references, charts, graphs, lists, amazing read, even at my level of
nutrition and biochemistry study she blows my mind with the exuberent amount of details, she also has a channel on Youtube here, her name is Judy Cho NTP. Cheers!
